Its interesting that neither of these articles on a new ISTB-7 say anything about timelines. This are some amazing renderings and design ideas to tout for publicity but look at the current area. The car wash is in the way and occupied, the shitty old building at the SEC of Mcallister and University will need to be vacated by whatever ASU department is in there, and the loss of parking at the Tyler St parking structure will need to be addressed, half of the land in the renderings isn't even owned but ASU (AZBoR) and don't even get started on utilities that crisscross those lots. And to bring it to a depressing low, ASU has a history or showing off innovative building projects and never building them. Sorry for being a Debbie Downer but there are a lot of hurdles to jump before this becomes reality. I want to see this get built and most of the problems I called out are manageable but I'm not holding my breath.

In all, it's just a concept by a local firm. Also, don't believe anything is occupying the old Papa Johns/ Americas Taco Shop and if the price was right the car wash can be bought. The shitty old building at the SEC of Mcallister and University is Research Support Services which I'm sure could be temporarily relocated if it ever comes to it.

The restaurant space is empty. When ATS moved out, I assumed it was in preparation for more intensive development. Whether this specific concept is built or not, something will eventually happen at this strategic corner.

I think ASU has control of that entire corner....they have shown it as proposed educational space for some time now on their masterplan(s).

I drove by Watermark last night and they were doing a foundation pour late thru the night! Hopefully we get a crane soon! They are really moving on it.

They keep their Twitter page pretty well updated:

I wish The Pier was moving just as fast. They had a nice head start with the excavation already in place.

Yeah, I keep waiting for that crane to go up at The Pier. Every time I go by it seems like they have another piece or two assembled, but it's a snail's pace.

This may have been posted already, but I like some of the ideas listed in the slideshow. A highline walkway sounds pretty cool.

A monorail through campus? jesus christ please no, They already ruined large chunks of campus with the terrible fucking solar panels that will be torn out in 10 years probably. What a waste

Closing university will cause more harm than good to trafic and city flow.

I can get behind the high line walkway.

Please don't tease us! I can't wait for this one! Now Tempe just needs to land another big corporate or regional HQ like State Farm.

Oh, wonder what happened to the losers at the 100 Mill development?!

If this turns out anything like the rendering and we do indeed get both towers I will be thrilled.

Based on the FAA map it looks like the stadium for the next round of renovations once this season is up. Which is in like 3 weeks so that makes sense

What else is left for the renovation? I thought it was all done...but I don't get to Temp much these days.

The entire east side of the stadium. North end zone, south, and west sideline are complete.
