No I not talking about the building which I like very much but the electric and telephone poles, and lines running across the street in the renders.

Well, the render doesn't show the Wells-Wentworth corridor work, maybe some utilities will be moved underground as part of that?

Such is typical for large-scale projects; either bury the lines or shift them to a nearby alley.

That unfortunate single moment when clean elegance morphs into contrived junk can be witnessed now at the southeast corner of New City. They've started framing windows on the cinema structure -- complete with faux window arches. Amazing how just a few squiggles can mar the clean lines of a simple look.

No photos, but construction at the Lakeside Bank site at 14th and Michigan is moving very quickly. It appears that foundation work is nearly done. They are wasting no time at all.

By the way, a month or so ago, there was talk about a demolition permit for the former X/O site. I haven't seen any activity at all over there, has anyone heard anything since then?

Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row

Drawings are out for 17 W Hubbard, currently a parking lot. Should be a fun spot, with some decent views from the rooftop.

^ I forgot all about that. Is that going to be the "high end country" place? (whatever that means, exactly: isn't the whole point of country music the fact that they pride themselves as being down-home 'regular ole' church-goin' Amurkins'?)

None of what you wrote has anything to do with the amount of money in their pocket.

^ Perhaps, I guess. Either way, I don't care, I just hope it's more than a bar and actually has some nice country/southern cuisine because I love that kind of stuff and would certainly like to check it out (unless there is line dancing with cowboy hats)

^TUP, you're missing out on a nice slice of life, turning your nose up at Country. I was once against it too, but it's not based on sob-story twang anymore. It's good-hearted people still enamored with the way 'Merica was, and trying to bring some of that back. A country bar called Old Crow just opened up in Wrigleyville. If you go there on an away-game weeknight, you'll miss the typical Wrigley crowd and be able to enjoy some great southern cookin', which is what Whiskey Row is trying to bring to RN.

Hahaha, totally agreed. "The way things were" reminds me of redneck racists telling people to get out of the country.

Using a bar in Wrigleyville as some sort of example to entice anyone towards the country music scene is probably not the best way to go.

Anyhow, I'm still glad there is a place in Chicago for everyone, and that's what makes this a great city. The whole "we love 'Merica' " country music scene will never be for me, but it's not a big deal. I'd rather live in/near a more inclusive city than an exclusive one.

Bub City around the corner probably has that market tapped. I doubt they'll steal any customers from Three Dots and a Dash, but it's good to see that lot filled in. Let's all shed a silent tear for the lost parking spaces though.
