Don't the reservoirs fill up first? So the system as it exists today is at full capacity?

I could end up being one of the store managers there. I start training this week and they don't tell us what store within the district we'll be placed at until we complete our training.

How many other Targets are being built or proposed around Chicago? I know there are a few others. The one on Elston is #1 in the country for sales. The Wilson Yard store is also up there. They're doing very well in the city.

Belmont-Ashland in the future inside the existing two story bank building.

Unfortunately they aren't building the residential levels atop it.

It's weird finally seeing enclosure on Division as opposed to all those empty lots. I really hope something big and impressive is built at Halsted and Division, though it's tough to get anything really big with only bus access alone over there. Even with the brown line station possibility, it's still a bit of a walk to that intersection.

Currently being planned as part of CHA's Plan for Transformation. The site is being considered for mixed use, multi-storied (5 to 8 story) building.

Originally, CHA was opposed to the Target being built on that location because 75 jobs being reserved for CHA residents wasn't enough for them.

I think in some strange way, they see the Cabrini Green projects, a sore spot on Chicago's history, as part of their heritage. They don't want the area to be developed or (worse!) gentrified.

CHA was who designated the Target location, instead of putting it closer to Halsted or up on Clybourn where it would make some sense.

Why was CHA such a factor in this deal? Did they own the land that whole time?

Target's building on the site of "The Carter" and some pretty grotesque scenes from Candyman.

Yes, CHA owned the land and did their own "planning."

I believe the alternative Target location was on Clybourn wedged on a site between some older buildings.

I kind of liked that site better because it would continuing linkage between North Ave and Division via Clybourn, especially when that NewCity project gets going.

Regardless, I guess we'll see buildings appear at Halsted and Division in maybe 2025 lol.

Do they haves plans to ever reconstruct any of those blocks to fit into the grid better or are they all going to remain the same?

Target never intended to build on that Clybourn site. The land was acquired solely for and only because of the land swap with the CHA. This is deliciously ironic, because the neighbors, IIRC, opposed any retail development, wanting only high-end residential there. Well, they may well get the residential part of it, at least.

Isn't that the old Borders site?

Walgreens took over the old Borders on Sunset & Vine in Hollywood also. They built out one there and still only used half of the space the bookstore previously occupied. Lots of interior work as well to remove the various levels etc.

Crews are removing the facade of the old Palm Terrace Banquets building at the 1200 block of N. Milwaukee. Anybody know whats going on? Looks promising.
