Spring Tour Part 1 Pics: Through the great, wide, "nothing"

This is the first of 5 - 6 parts from the "Spring Tour" that took me through the outreaches of Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico. 1700 miles in 5 days. These are mostly landscapes and historic sites which I figured would be of interest to folks here. The next parts will be posted in City Photos.

I might have overused certain effects in post-processing, but oh well.

Sunset Point

Flagstaff

US-89

Mountain Mesas

Cameron monument
Formerly Tanner's Crossing

Erosion

Little Colorado River

River Valley

Two Bridges

Support

Questar Southern Trails

Built 1911 by the Midland Bridge Co.

75 MPH Silo

Kayenta

Bluff, UT

Hole-in-the-Rock Historical Site entrance

Barton Cabin

Kumen Jones ruins

Outside fence

Red Roof

Supposedly, you could see five states from an area near here. Monument Valley, Shiprock, NM,, the Sleeping Ute, Glen Canyon, the Bears Ears, a range in Colorado and other places. I need a better lens next time I go up, in > 12 months.

What happens in San Juan County, UT...

... stays in San Juan County, UT

US-191

It was kind of convenient that UDOT was widening parts.

I-70 South Side

I-70 North Side

Part 2 will be forthcoming: Denver at Night

sean, nice pics of the four corners. I look forward to the rest of the series. Btw, did you get a chance to see any of the other area highlights, like Canyon de Chelly or Mexican Hat?

Sean,

Thanks for the great photos. The inner-mountain West is spectacular. The vista from Sunset Point (just north of Phoenix) is beautiful, especially in Spring. If it were in the middle of Kansas, it'd be a national park. I have mountain biked in Moab, Utah and spent a week houseboating on Lake Powell. The Colorado Plateau area is other-worldly. I look forward to the photo series from your recent trip!
