Tesoro (1551 Quebec St.) | 56.35m | 17fl | Completed

There was a bit of discussion on this development in the General Vancouver Updates thread. As I'm interested in following this development, I selfishly felt it deserved its own thread, because I know others will have a lot more to contribute than I could

Concert Properties is building "a 17-storey residential building, over three levels of underground parking, with access off of Switchmen Street" on the north-east end of false creek (next to Science World and their existing Navio development).

My first time posting so forgive me if I left out any pertinent info these threats should normally contain..

Thanks for posting!

I've been by there a few times lately and have been wondering what this project was.

Here's a pic of the excavation from ~9 months ago.

It keeps surprising me how many buildings are being crammed here. The new park will be miniscule in size, if they ever complete it.

No more buildings have been developed than were initially planned by Concert nine years ago. The park will be almost exactly the same size as it has always been planned to be since the plan for SEFC was first published in 2005.

dont bet on it.

i hear they aren't giving it up as that land is actually "owned" by McDonald's, and that drive-thru, which have been banned in CoV, pays big-time.

i remember hearing an idea where as long as they could rebuild the drive-thru, they would be open to redevelopment with a McDonald's below. but CoV was a hard no, so therefore goes any potential.

i can only imagine the value of that drive-through, if even flipping / redeveloping the land isn't enticing to mcdonald's.

They could forego a drive-through and still have a walk-in location but it's clearly worth $$ to them.

It's coming along after a slow start. I can't wait until that area is cleared up and the new park happens.

Thanks!
The dark cladding stands out - but not as much as the red brick on Central to the left.
With the False Creek Station office building next to Pacific Central, there will be a couple of dark towers in the area.
