Main and Longwood | ? | 6 fl | Planning

Looking through the City's development mapping site this evening and noticed an application for the vacant lot on the northwest corner of Main and Longwood.

25 residential units, 28 parking spaces, and 448 sq. meters (4800~ sq feet) of commercial space at ground level.

Application also includes the house north of the vacant lot, 122 Longwood Road South.

I thought Metrolinx took possession of that property.

I would be so happy to see this developed... I walk by this neglected site every day and it is an eyesore.

From what I understand, some owners have been able to sell and keep the unneeded lands for themselves. In some cases Metrolinx only needed a few feet of land. Land will be severed and the rest will be sold off to developers. MIP/Samme lands are an example of the lands being bought, severed and parted out to other parties. Also there is no demolition needed on this property so Metrolinx does not need to take it all.

Perhaps it was the vacant former Popeye's next door that Metrolinx bought? Not sure.
