Glad to see this thread has picked up more steam in recent weeks, albeit by talk of rocks and slaughterhouses.

Speaking of that corner, I seem to remember someone mentioning a while back that when the Powerhouse Building was modernized the current loading dock area and corner was designed to eventually be able to be filled in with more building... was there any ever renders of that? If that would happen this would probably be our most proper urban corner with street-interacting commercial on all 4 corners downtown haha.

That parking area at the bottom of the Powerhouse is annoying... I don't understand why they didn't at least hide it away by enclosing the space.

One day after the pour and they've dropped a few thousand pounds of material on it.

So refreshing to see a properly coordinated job happening, after having to see how Marwest did it at 300 Main. Thanks for the pics.

With the form work below its ok, the formwork below will stay for at least 7 days if not longer and they may put temp shoring posts after, main floor would have the highest allowable live load design

The pictures really drive home the point as to the impressive-for-Winnipeg floor-area ratio that this tower is going to achieve. Most of our taller (20+ storey) towers have much bigger footprints, this is going to be right up there with 333 Main in terms of small footprint relative to overall height.

For a while the trend was for large footprints in office buildings... I didn't think we'd see any more of this type of skinny office tower get built.

I assume the 3 columns out front along Carlton are for the skywalk? They are quite large columns though. The building edge follows the curb line they poured. So there should be nothing there. But I didn't think the skywalk was entering the building at that location. Was it changed from the curvy thing to just a straight shot across Carlton?

Also there are 4 foundation looking things within the 3 column area. Crane base perhaps??

The 3 columns must be a redesign. I haven't seen those in any drawings. What I have seen is the skywalk entering the building at its southern most corner. The four smaller pours do look crane base shaped.

Good catch, bomberjet.

I will reserve judgment but I have a hard time imagining that a skywalk in that spot will look anywhere near as elegant as what was initially contemplated in the renderings.

based on the diameter and amount of rebar sticking up (for a long splice into the next concrete pour) it would appear those columns are supporting a lot of weight, and also being relied upon for some building stability.

Similar to what is shown in that render for the northeast corner.

I think the design of the building has had a fairly substantial change, at least with respect to the main entrance, because it doesn't look like the columns for that original overhang at the northeast corner are there now.

Guys, I think I figured out where the crane is going...

No redesign, as the east side of the building flexes in at that point, allowing for the crane.
