I hadn't heard of the Drunk Shakespeare thing, it looks fun.

Snell hasn't been replaced as far as I've heard, though I think they just finished the move in October 2022.

Drunk Shakespeare is exactly as described, a theater show where a small group of actors, usually 5, do a Shakespeare show where one of the actors is drunk and tries to keep up. It is hysterical, and as an actor, it is a show I have wanted to do for a while.

So I bet they are adding a performing theater of sorts. AWESOME!!!!!!

As we've said several times, we can only hope this project helps resurrect AZ Center. The list of retail and restaurants there seems to get smaller each year. Seems like it would be perfect for a smaller grocery now perhaps on the second floor.
The initial design was by Bruder who had no high-rise experience so it of course was forward thinking. It got value engineered since and won't be anything special besides its height.

The number of residents Palm tower adds isn't going to make a meaningful difference at resurrecting a lot of poorly designed space. AZ Center is too disconnected from the commercial core, Roosevelt, or anywhere else and these places have retail visible from the street often with the option of in-n-out/street parking on a slow night.

It doesn't help that the updates are butt ugly and poorly executed and the AMC continues to struggle.

Is Palm over 200 ft now because it's starting on the 20th floor?

It's much taller than AC which is 156'. So possibly at 200' or so.

Tower crane got a nice jump over the weekend. About 5 more floors and Palm should be at the height of APS, hopefully by end of April.

for some reason, X PHX 2 cam is facing the back side of palm tower but you can see that palm is 4-5 floors behind APS and the new crane jump height.

Ok. I had a brain-freeze moment on my last couple of posts, so just deleted them. I'm thinking strong winds may have moved the camera a bit this morning. I heard some good wind gusts this morning. You can go back through the time history and see the camera keeps shifting between 5am-8:30am.

I'm sure they will fix it soon, but a pretty good view in the meantime.

The Aps tower #1 Looked old when they built it, but I agree both buildings look their age.

i still think the APS bldg looks good. Doesn't look dated to me...good massing and materials seem good (not an engineer).

The Arizona Center building where Snell used to be is a cool building with interesting interior design features. I was sort of surprised when Snell left but I guess they wanted something more modern and a much small space. I'm curious who or what goes in that massive space they left.

The APS building is fine. Neither nice nor one of our worst.

As a former sign guy

It really irritates me that Arizona Center can't put new faces on those letters that say Arizona Center. Not that costly and it presently looks freaking cheesy. We had a Super Bowl in town and they couldn't spruce things up for that, what kind of mickey mouse out fit are they running?

That's the building they even put a big ad up on. I noticed that too and it was pretty shameful.

It's a good angle from there, it doesn't take that much of the site, but I'll take any additional bulk and height.
