I believe it would be the first major NHL trophy ever won by a Jet player, except the Calder (Hawerchuk, Selanne).

Was really hoping Seattle wouldn't go with Kraken, but there are definitely worse names.

Kraken. Oh no. Well, I'm all for it. Need to bring back the Hartford Whalers now, although the Islanders will still be a great matchup.

Name wouldn't have been my pick but the jerseys and logo are pretty nice.

Definitely like the logo, subtle and well thought out.

The Kraken always sounded gimmicky to me, very ECHL. They did a good job with it though, and the colour scheme is pretty consistent with the Mariners and Seahawks which I always appreciate.

I'm pretty confident that Seattle will be a very successful franchise, the market is a no-brainer. It will likely be two back-to-back expansion wins for the league.

Very happy to see Seattle join the league. Should be a solid market and a natural rival for Vancouver.

My only worry is what it will do to the two major junior teams in the metro area. I'm not sure Seattle is a hockey market like Canada where almost all NHL cities now have successful (market wise) junior teams. Hopefully it will grow interest in the game, not take away local fans. The WHL cannot afford to lose two US based teams.

Vancouver Seattle games are going to be fun. Seattle hates the Vancouver fans taking over Safeco when the Blue Jays are there, so the seeds for a heated rivalry have already been planted. I can see Canuck fans going down to Seattle and breaking out the “let’s go blue jays!!” chant during the hockey game.

Do not like Crackin’ though.

I was wondering the same thing myself. It does not seem out of the question that a city as big as Seattle could to continue to support two junior teams plus a NHL team. But if the writing is on the wall, perhaps the weaker of the two teams (not sure which one that would be in this case) could be moved to another city in the region like Olympia, Tacoma, Yakima or Eugene?

Ya it's about time Vancouver had a geographic rival. Calgary was our biggest but Vancouver is not Calgary's biggest.
And Seattle Kraken doesn't have a ring to it but ok with the colour scheme.

Not a bad name for a franchise that will only ever exist on paper.

Hockey Day in Canada can finally be something not totally awful.

Montreal-Toronto
Ottawa-Winnipeg
Edmonton-Calgary
Vancouver-Seattle

Calgary - Vancouver was definitely a rivalry for a solid decade. Edmonton was busy spoiling 1st overall picks and becoming the laughing stock of the league to put up any kind of fight!

Release the Kraken,

Or
when someone gets cut, they are shown to the door and a big booming voice shouts out.
"He was released from the Kraken".
