A very recent trip to Miami, photos on the way home.....

That huge strip of green always fascinated me. It's really remarkable to find that much open space near a major downtown like that.

Cool. I can see that downtown Dallas has alot of room to grow. I don't see too many NIMBYs around.

SouthJersey7, that huge strip of green is the Trinity River floodplain. If you look carefully in the first photo, you can see the river has been moved, and channelized. Also, you can see the levees on each side of the river that contain all the flood waters. Most of this floodplain is currently undeveloped, but there are plans to make this space oriented toward recreational activities. Over in Fort Worth, 30 miles to the west, almost all of the floodplain is park land with hike and bike trails that follow the river for miles.

SLO, these are really nice aerials.
