He went to school east in Ontario I think. I haven't talked to him for as long as you have probably. I miss his photo threads though, cause he could definitely shoot a picture.

Sorry to disappoint you, but what they are doing is moving the pre-loading from the Skye to that site - nothing more
What is good news is that when the new proposal comes it won't need to wait for preloading
Trust me it is dead in the water with the developer that proposed it. It costs money to remove them and the new owner might want to proceed with the project. Who knows...
why can't the foundation be dug or piled down to bedrock? or would pre-loading still be neccisary?

And Canadian Mind... there is no bedrock there. Because, it's so close to the lake, and the preload is used to compact the ground down so it's hard enough to build on. Unfortunately like, like in the case of the Discovery Pointe townhouses... the ground isn't 100% sturdy and foundation can move.
The tall building cluster kinda looks interesting - but I do agree that it is a good thing it was shot down. Does not fit in that area. The low rise portion is hideous. Frankly, it is look like a massive Hong Kong hillside development. Who is the developer??

Citizens For a Livable Downtown has come out against the City's downtown re-development plan.
The ad hoc group has raised objection with the plan it says was initiated by Westcorp President, Phil Milroy.
Group spokesperson, John Zeger, says the group has met twice since the first city sponsored open house in September.
I bet his socks don't even match his shoes.
The group will go public with its concerns Saturday, November 10 at 1:30 at the downtown Kelowna Library.
"At this meeting arguments against the Milroy plan will be presented along with counter-proposals for how the area in question could be better redeveloped," says Zeger.
"Objections will center around the height and density of the buildings in the proposal and not the need for redevelopment."
Zeger says there will be a 'public visioning session,' an element he says was not part of the City's public participation program.
A City of Kelowna sponsored open house will be held Tuesday, November 6 from 3:30 to 7 p.m. in the Grand Hotel Ballroom.
