This is most likely a stupid question, but do those windows open and close? I imagine residents would want to be able to open/close all of their windows, but I don't really see where they'd slide - unless they just kinda push out from the bottom like it looks like some of them do.

They apparently just push out from the bottom, as can be seen in the photos in post #1179 above. Incidentally, those are called awning windows, for obvious reasons (as opposed to casement, double-hung, sliding, etc. windows).

Weird. There isn't steel on top of the building for the parapet and the crane is coming down. Weird

Some progress shots on tower 2 following the big storm that passed through last evening.

I was going to say that this development is being hit by flood waters right now. Should mess things up on the ground floor of the south tower being worked on, and is definitely messing things up at the north tower first floor.

Can confirm, my brother lives a few blocks up from the river on Arch and said the first floor of the Giant is flooded. Wild stuff; hope everyone is safe.

The 1st floor of the Giant is being gutted out and rebuilt.

Hurricane Ida was an amazing storm for sure, the amount of homes, businesses & vehicles they will be replaced/rebuilt in the next couple months is going to be insane.

Ida has highlighted some of the challenges of building so close to the river. There are design elements of projects like River Walk and the Roberts Center that none of us really love, but when you account for the geographic challenges, the street level design makes a lot of sense, realistically.

I am wondering about the below grade parking garage at One Riverside. If I remember, it was built like a sealed basin. Did the water rise to the point that it was filled? There would be some expensive cars swimming in there.

The storm really was something else. I've never experienced anything like it. So much devastation around me. I'm in UD where that ef2 hit, we got incredibly lucky, the school is just down the street from us and was torn to shreds

You would think people would know enough to take their cars somewhere and leave them on a street on higher ground or in an above grade garage in advance of a storm like this.

When I lived in Old City years ago I would always move my car off the street and into one of it's garages before a severe weather event (like a snow storm or hurricane).

Saving the hours of shoveling alone made it worth the cost of 1 or 2 days off the street in a garage.

Is the Giant still closed from the flooding? Anyone know how bad it is?

I tried to go on Saturday and it was still closed. Seemed almost ready though.
