Hey Blah, I guess so. I was just figuring that out by reviewing my notes of your post from the first of the year.

Also, it was originally supposed to be 28 floors per the Domain Companies website.
It really adds credence to "Comrade's Rule" which says: For each proposed tower in SLC, subtract at least 100 feet or 25 floors in order to get a more accurate height for actual build. (SMH)

Yeah, I’m not buying that. The building didn’t go from a 28 floor building to a 3 floor building. It was also not ever going to be 377 foot tall tower either.

They went from a 28 floor to a 25 floor tower - likely from about 310 feet (as Atlas suggests) to the 277 feet that has been filed.

This could have been because of a myriad of reasons (costs of steel, the fact that they are building a hotel during a down market, etc), but hardly anything remotely like ‘Comrade’s Rule’

Glo Hotel: http://www.slcdocs.com/Planning/Plan...19/00408SR.pdf

Address: : 1865 W North Temple

I think I'm ready to call the Glo Hotel project (was supposed to replace the Dream Inn) as cancelled.

I may be wrong, but we haven't heard anything about it since they filed with the city in 2019 and the property was never purchased. I suspect Best Western pulled the project due to the fallout from Covid.

Thoughts?

That design looks straight out of 1995. Wouldn't be too upset if that one doesn't go through.

On the other hand, that Zwick project looks incredible! Though it looks like it will also be astronomically expensive. A bowling alley and an outdoor jumbotron on the roof??

This is the Diamond Rail apartments. It was an RDA project. And I agree, it has a really nice look to it!

Also, Folsom Trail construction is well underway. I live literally next to part of it, so I will try to remember to get pictures soon.

1709 S Major Street - Anyone know what this is?

I have seen a flurry of filings for this Address: 1709 S Major Street

Commercial Building Permit: https://citizenportal.slcgov.com/Cit...howInspection=

Residential Plumbing: https://citizenportal.slcgov.com/Cit...howInspection=

Commercial Mechanical: https://citizenportal.slcgov.com/Cit...howInspection=

Commercial Electrical: https://citizenportal.slcgov.com/Cit...howInspection=

The Commercial Building Permit says
Quote:
The project is composed of a single 3 story multi-unit building with 20 studio apartments. At least 25% of the units will be affordable. The building includes an enclosed and covered parking. Exterior finishes consist of fiber cement siding, and stucco.
Does anyone know any more about this?

I believe the project was renamed from Diamond Rail to Citizens West
https://giv.group/projects/giv-d-projects/citizens-west

And yeah, I agree on Glo Hotel. I definitely won't miss their plan for surface parking.

Okay. I know I bitch about a lot of the proposals but holy shit this may be the ugliest fucking proposal I've seen yet. Hopefully it is dead.

Excited to see it completed. Does anyone know what is going on with the City Creek daylighting project to run along that trail? Concept 3 from the feasibility study is beautiful but I won't get my hopes up.

The latest RDA funding proposal from the City Council meeting on the 14th includes money for daylighting City Creek along the Folsom Trail, though I don't know the details of what is proposed to be done with this money. Still, luckily daylighting is still very much on the table.

95 State is absolutely one of the SEXIEST highrises ive seen in a long time. Kudoes to SLC! You lucky bastards! Living north of Miami now, and while were booming like crazy (two 100 story towers coming into play) and pre-selling everything), this tower is a fave of mine. I mean, those curves, the color, that crown, that base, that reflection! OH MAN!

It is nice but Miami's skyline has got it going on with both iconic skyscrapers and 20 already built over 600', I visited there last year for the first time ever and was blown away. I'd rather have Miami tower or Scorpion tower personally.
