It's 2x6s nailed together side by side to provide a solid, 5.5" thick wood floor.
Normally the floor would be constructed with larger joists (steel or wood) placed further apart (i.e. 16" on-centre) or you could use pre-cast hollowcore concrete.
This system is unusual for modern construction. Especially given that is likely doesn't have an official, recognized assembly fire rating.
Builders have a bit of leeway with these types of floor systems in older buildings, like warehouses that are converted into residential - but for a new build, it would definitely be unique.
