I don't remember this. I do note that the image is called 100maink.jpg, though... was it one of the proposals that were floated for 100 Main?

It would have been a signature building for the city for sure. The Bay's proposed store certainly would have been up there, though. Like a city unto itself. It's hard to imagine such a hulking department store building anywhere but the most top-tier global cities like New York, London, etc.

The old Richardson Building would look great if they built it today on their owned lot Westbrook and Portage Ave E overlooking the ball park

Here's some mega-1960s unbuilt urban redevelopment for the East Exchange:

I really find that old 60s plan for the East Exchange intriguing in that it reimagines what the city could have in terms of transport infrastructure. However, it would have been a huge loss of architectural heritage obviously. Our problems as far as P&M is concerned would have been solved though

I wonder if someone could put a pic up of what the Winnipeg Arena that was suppose to be built across the Winnipeg Convention Center to save The Original Jets from moving to Arizona.

Manitoba Gardens! I was thinking the same thing re: old arena proposals, but they are from the early days of the web so there aren't many pictures floating around.

Some of the other old arena proposals from those days were the Megaplex, the Snowcap Dome, the Winnipeg Coliseum and the Spirit of Manitoba's thing where the ballpark is now.

Love it!
I could fill this entire thread with my own work...a few samples off hand. I'll see what else I can find.

Hotel and condo in the parking lot at Portage and Main

Residential towers where the Richardson Innovation Centre is now.

A strip Mall on Corydon

Redevelopment of the Pantages Theatre for the WSO

Waterpark at the Polo Park Inn

Football stadium at Assiniboia Downs

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at the Metropolitain Theatre. This one was so close. Was to be a video screen.

Proposal for Waterront Drive. Where Ship Street Village is.

Some that are not mine

Proposal for Waterfront Drive beside the pump house

Tower for downtown Winnipeg. Not sure where but it sure is awesome.

Another Modernist beauty. Possibly Osborne...

This was proposed for the corner of Main and McDermot. Beside the Pal.
