Nothing silly about it.

I did not create it as a seperate thread for when it becomes erected
WHen is someone going to create a thread for the type of urinals the building will be using?

Where are the protest rallies ala Occupy Wall Street? As much as I detest them, where is FOX News? Surely the drop in the building's height would appeal to their over-patriotic, jingoistic "Umurikan" audience...

Why is everyone just OK with this? This is an absolute travesty that transcends beyond the bounds of high-rise and architecture enthusiasts, but extends to people all over the United States and those killed on 9/11. Everything that was promised to us over the course of the last 10 years has been lost, taken away from us so that Durst could save a few bucks, and no one really seems to care. This "mighty symbol" of America's strength and resiliance will just end up being another average high-rise. Maybe the new symbolism is that America is in decline...
Why doesn't anyone talk about the phony number of floors too? What a joke--this is more like an 85 story building, regardless of its height.

Great (if they count the spire as official height), but then don't call it a 108 floor building, because it's not.

It's a 110 floor, 85-storey building. Don't confuse terms.

I don't need a bunch of egg heads telling me a 400' piece of building weighing hundreds, if not thousands of tons, doesn't exist. It's arbitrary and confusing to the general public.

They did ugly up this 1780' building real good though, I'll give them that. On a related note, does someone have a close up of the new pinnacle? I might update my model some time. With my new PC I could probably render it in 4K in less than 15 minutes, as oppposed to the 720p renders that took 30 minutes.

Look I am going to explain this again. One World Trade Center has a higher floor to ceiling ratio for each floor than the Twin Towers had. The Twin Towers each had a floor to ceiling ratio of about 12 feet. One World Trade Center has a floor to ceiling ratio of 13'4 feet. Another difference is the mechanical floors which are equivalent to two office floors in height. Put that together and One World Trade Center would have about 104-105 floors. It is still technically a building that goes over 100 floors. The floor count is different though, and I am sure that some of you are mad that we are getting 105 floors when the Twin Towers stood at 110 because it's a loss of 5 floors, but it is just as tall as the Twin Towers were.

"Libeskinds's design was beautiful"

Your Talking about that giantic piece of broken glass that had limited office floors and probably couldn't withstand being hit with a rock? Seriously?
Everybody has their own opinion, but atleast they built a BUILDING. Not a piece of glass that looks more like a giantic monument rather than a symbolic office tower.

Libeskinds design was basically a 900 ft glass building with a 400 foot metal thing with a spire on top of that. Plus it wasn't really that great looking.

the new mast

@ many people on this forum:

you're too negative when you talk about that new antenna design. Of course, everyone, and also me, would have prefered to see the "white antenna" design built, instead of an iron mast.

But this is not a reason to consider that the height of the tower has been reduced. ACTUALLY, the tower WILL BE 1776 feet tall. Although the skyscraper-reglementation doesn't count the non-spire antennas, that doesn't prevent the tower from being 1776 feet high.

Moreover, many of you find that new mast ugly. It is less beautiful than the older white project, but it renders better on the top of the tower: more discrete, not hurting as was the former design . It will be like the antenna of twin tower 1: thin end discrete.

Don't care about the height measures, that doesn't count the masts: 1WTC IS 1776 feet high.
