honestly, I could care less what some police chief from Windsor has to say. Go help Brantford or some other small town. I want Hamilton to learn from real cities that are doing it right.

MikeToronto - I agree...the world needs people with the ability to think outside the (big) box. these days, anything other than a stucco warehouse surrounded by thousands of parking spots is considered crazy, insane and impossible.
Your research and amount of effort put into your ideas is very welcome here. Keep it up.

^^ 100%! Hamilton is not suffering the effects from the Detroit Riots... so why is this police chief suggesting we need to create a police state and discourage "hanging out" hahaha
The former Chief DID make some good points esp re: not using plywood on abandoned bldgs & ensuring business owners take pride in their property.

Where are you taking Urban Planning, Mike? Ryerson?

Windsor's police chief didn't have to deal with the Detroit riots, but rather every 19 and 20 year old in Detroit coming over to party, along with the usual crime and seediness that comes with a large casino.

Windsor tried to save their downtown by making it the night club centre of the region. It worked great for nightlife, and you can go to downtown Windsor in the day and it is dead. Go back at 10PM and it is packed like Manhattan. But they put all their eggs in one basket so to speak. I don't even think it was that bad. They were just making a bigger deal of it then they needed to with all the teens hanging out downtown on Friday's.

DC83 I am at Ryerson.
