I haven't taken a close look at the actual application, but conceptually I don't have an issue with a four story mixed-used building at this location. There are currently three story town homes behind it as shown below. It is right in the heart of old Stittsville and close to The
Trans CanadaGreat Trail.
Done right, it could be a step towards improving Stittsville Main St. I would love to see it become more like Richmond Rd. in Westboro or Bank St. in the Glebe (increase density and improve walkability). To do that we need to get rid of those houses and replace them with storefronts.
Interesting that while the lot is labelled 1531, it has 4 buildings on it (1531, 1535, 1539 and 1541). They are also using a second lot behind that has no address or buildings.
