Bob Bratina last night at the meeting said that the connaught would employ about 300 people. Pretty good for one building!
Cheers
Also, I believe he mentioned the London Tap House would employ about 80 people as well. He mentioned the Days Inn, but didn't say how many it would employ tho!? Regardless, more employees downtown = more business for downtown retail!
I was by there last night. It looks AWESOME. All the interior lights were on and looked amazing.
This morning they are installing really nice awnings out front. This place is killer.
It looks much better today than even that recent photo from LikeHamilton...they've done a ton of work on it in the past week. Really sharp.
If Stinson can pull off his plans for the rest of this block, watch out. That before picture will be something to look at then.
I'm glad to hear about all these new projects and new employees downtown. it's exactly what we need.
Retailers will probably show up in full force once they see LRT running through the core loaded with hundreds of people.
I agree it's looking really good. I only wish they'd gone for some bolder colors. Pubs in the UK have some really splashy exteriors. This is a bit vanilla for me. I was also really hoping that they'd do some heavy wood detailing around the doors and windows, but it seems not to be.
Regardless it's a huge improvement and I can't wait to get inside.

I agree...plus, I wish they'd have kept the exterior windows at ground level the same size instead of making them shorter, but regardless...the inside appears to be done up quite nice. hopefully there's some colour and splash inside.
Man those awnings look nice. Pity they went nuts with the stucco on the first floor.

well, the parts of the building they left alone are nice.
i like the LONDON TAP HOUSE lettering, too.
anyway, we're just lucky liuna didn't get their hands on it first.
I think it looks great as much for the investment and faith in the city that it represents as anything else. This replicated a few dozen times over would certainly change the face of downtown. I love Hess--but it's great to see this kind of investment in a venue outside of the Village.
what the frig??? I noticed tonight that all the windows are frosted now! You can't see in (or out) of any of the upper floor windows.
geez, someone should tell these guys to chill out...the reno is done. Just open up already!
I was looking forward to the view from those 3rd floor windows.
no, the ones I'm referring to are the southwest-facing windows at Main and John.
They appear to be in the middle of bar/restaurant areas. Great chandeliers, paint jobs etc.... that's how some of us have been peeking in to see the interior decor.
I'm guessing most of the back of house stuff is along the north side of the building....I don't think windows even exist there, but don't quote me.
