This thing is gonna block my view of P&M! Is it too late to protest the outrageous height and scale of this development?

Imagine that view with 300 Main and SkyCity. Awesome!

There's no green. The rooftops are ugly. The parking garages are ugly. The cars are ugly. Glad that's not my view. OK, the skyline view and the blue building are pretty nice.

Edit: I mistook the RCB building for an industrial chicken farm.

Well maybe, from the renderings provided in the OP for this project, we'll see some change coming in the future in regards to the useage and development of green space and roof tops ?

Possibility of height expansion or a 5th tower at True North Square.

We definitely need to see more landscaping atop the buildings.

Interesting that link talks about a height increase on tower 1 which was to be the first to be completed. Wouldn't that suggest they are nearing the point they need to formally make that call either way?

Supposed to be an announcement in August, seems logical adding to the Office tower as most of the talk is about the interest in movement of office space from various locations..

Bmyers noted in his interview today on SkyCity they will be marketing the office space soon. Office for sale, not lease. Interesting if TNS is getting more interest for office, and how that could impact sales at SkyCity. Two slightly different markets, sales vs leasing.

Keep in mind in addition to TNS, SkyCity and 300 Main are both proposing new office space while the Canada Post tower is mostly vacant and some of the TNS tenants are moving out of the P&M corner. It also is not like there is a tough time landing office space downtown if you are on the market.

Yeah, exactly. May be tough sell if there's already plenty-o-space to go around. But hey, we never thought TNS would get ANY office space sold and they did. Putting overall health of downtown aside.

the city administration about 1 year ago was saying that they don't have the money to put towards any tenant improvement funds if somebody wanted to move in 266 Graham.

they did not know the amount of work required to be done for a new tenant to move in until after the fed govt departments moved out.

Among other things new tenants apparently don't want to move into areas painted in government Beige or Tan.

New tenants usually gut spaces and outfit to their needs. Well, tenants with a steady business. Is some of this cost covered by the building owner?

I say 5 years from now when we have 60000 new residents all these concerns will become mute.. This is more of a build it and they will come approach. True north and artistic Riet know that they can't just sit on they hands and expect downtown to be appealing market for businesses they have risk thier money and invest in future demand. You look at LA or even Toronto 20 years ago thier nobody wanted to live downtown but the cities invested in the core and made them thrive and become appealing places for visitors and resident.. Winnipeg is growing at a fairly steady clip of 15 thousand per year there will always be increased demand for housing and condos.. I'm not concerned about over saturating the downtown market with condos and offices.. Once they are built and money is put into landscaping downtown will feel just as vibrant as the ones in other cities

There can be an allowance for finishes as an inducement to rent.

But the news article I was reading said a lot of the base systems (heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical etc) were in need of serious replacement due to deferred maintenance, and the city did not have the money to spend on that, never mind any improvement allowances.

They apparently thought that when the other fed depts moved out, the space would be in move in condition for new tenants.

re:266 Graham - This is correct and a huge issue for the redevelopment of the building.

technical question re: True North Square

Why have they dug to a deeper level at @ the centre of the south wall of the pit?
