I totally agree about the trees. I've looked for good trees in the 3d Warehouse, but these were the best I could find - although they're quite heave compared to how they look and, like you mentioned, they're too small. The best way would be to model the trees myself - maybe using the same technique you used in Sta Fee, but it's hard to find time for that - especially as it is not the most interesting thing to do.

I've finally re-textured the whole first section. It was more work than I anticipated - and hoped for - but now it's done. Here's a view looking west over the city and towards the Lake Ontario. The un-re-textured second section is also visible.

The update frequency will be even slower from now on, as I have to split the little free time I have between Bourne and another interesting project (non 3d modeling).

It's finally time to return to Bourne! Here's a pano to show were I currently am with it: the first section (on the left side, the northwest corner of downtown) is re-textured. The re-texturing of second section is up next and then the third section - which only has a couple of buildings done altogether. One of them is the tallest building in Bourne, the Wright Wellington Tower.
Only thing I've done after the last update is that I've replaced the trees. These new ones have lot less polygons so I can have a lot more of them.

WOW, Vellu!! It's great to see an update again and you really outdid yourself with this latest one! Put me on the next ticket to Bourne please.

It's a shame that this forum has kind of died the way it has. You should also post it on SkyscraperCity. Their sketchup forum is highly active.

Thanks, BoiseAirport! Yes, it's a true shame how this forum has died. It has so glorious past with Staunton and other great 3d cities. I will start to post also on Skyscrapercity, but I'm not yet willing to leave this forum

Thanks, mity!

I started re-texturing the second section from the New York Building.

The New York Building was built for the New York Mutual insurance company in 1930. They still have their Bourne HQ in the building, but most of the building is rented out. The New York Building is 127 m / 417 ft tall and has 34 stories. It was the tallest building in Bourne from 1930 to 1975. Today it is the fourth tallest.

Thanks, mity and Dac!

The City Hall and Administrations Building re-textured. Built in 1915, it was for a long time the largest building in office space in Bourne. It houses the mayor's office and many other city administration's offices - as well as the courthouse.

Superb, love how you're gradually updating each building into a more detailed realistic version of its old self.

Thanks, Pingyao!

The Heritage Insurance Building replaced the old city hall from 1876 in 1967. Most people think this is the worst example of the enthusiasm of 1960's and 70's to demolish old buildings and replace them with new ones - especially when it was rumored that the CEO of Heritage Insurance, John Bergen, was a little too friendly with mayor Norman Kilrea.

The Oxford House re-textured: "The Oxford House is an luxurious apartment building finished in 1917. It was the largest aparment building in Bourne until 1960's, but today it still has the most sought after aparments - especially on the western side with the lake views. The eastern side apartments used to have great views of downtown until the completion of the Cambridge Place. The Oxford House is 66 meters / 217 feet, with 15 floors."

Thanks, Dac!

Another building re-textured: Cambridge Place is a mixed-use building at the west side of downtown Bourne. Above the two story base there's 12 stories of offices and then apartments in the two 19 story towers. The total height to the roof is 135 m / 443 ft, making Cambridge Place the third tallest building in Bourne.

When the plans for the building were announced in 1987, they generated lot of complaints from the residents of the Oxford House. It is the most prestigious apartment building in Bourne and Cambridge Place was going to totally block the views towards the city. Eventually all the complaints were rejected and the Cambridge Place was completed in 1991.

If only things worked like that in my home city.

Nice update, great re-jig of Cambridge Place. I'll be interested to see how you detail Lake view Place construction so it matches the level of detail of the other buildings.
