Great pic q12! I hadn't seen that one before. It's cool to see how they were planning to twin the highway when they built it. But not so cool that they didn't seem to imagine the challenges of the small merge areas when the twinned highway finally started to experience its capacity a couple decades later.
Would you have a link to the source? I'd like to have a copy of that photo for my personal archives without the red arrow in it.
So does anybody know the year it was built? You can see that traffic volumes were not so much at the time or perhaps the photo was taken on a Sunday morning (Sundays were 'dead' back in the day, unlike now). Also the Mini Countryman is neat to see as they were not all that common. The other car in the foreground is a 1960 Buick.
