What about just upgrading Green Lane - Miller Road and Davis Drive into a freeway?
Look along the highway/roads to see what businesses would be affected. My first thought is the golf course would push their clientele to stop it.

Douggie put it back on the table.

However there's a election next year. It may get canned again before construction begins.

It doesn't receive the negative media attention that the GTA West highway does, so i'd be surprised if it gets canned.

It may suffer the problems of the new Highway 7 highway in Guelph though, of just never getting built but always technically funded.

MTO really is moving at snail pace for this one.

There were so many cops today: 5 on the 401 (1 in Northumberland, 2 in Hastings, 2 in Leeds & Grenville) and 2 on the 416.

I saw another 3 on the way back. It’s unusual to see this many cops straight up.

Maybe this is going to be normal for them.

Seems to me that March always brings out the speed enforcement. Weather is nicer, people are getting out more, maybe being a little carefree on the speed front. I've certainly noticed it more in the London area recently. Compounded this year by lockdowns lifting bringing more people on the roads. A lot of people have been taking advantage of lighter traffic and have formed new bad habits. I know I've become more regularly heavy on the pedal.

Yep, especially where there's a median barrier, it means that I only have to check the right-hand side.
Then again, yesterday was an exception to the rule for me in terms of speed because I had to rush.
It was simply highly unusual to see cops doing speed traps on the 416.

I am guessing you have never heard of a radio?

Like cop's radio? Well that's the risk. It's always possible that cops try to catch both, either at the same time, or by radioing the colleague down the road.

They also have helicopters. The use certain markings on the roads to know how fast you are going.

I can't find the geography thread anymore.
I'm curious: Is Haliburton the county with the least amount of arable land?
I've felt that it should have been a district (district municipality like Muskoka or territorial district) instead.
It's weird to have a county that's 99% rock.

{418} only has an AADT of around 3 to 4K? That's a big surprise for me.
I've always thought that rush-hour traffic on {401} from Oshawa to {412} is bad enough to send some up the {418} and that {412} has effectively ceased to be the GTA East Bypass.
I used the {418} once on a Friday afternoon in late July last year. When I got on {401}, traffic was still busy. Using {412} really would have meant paying just to roll slowly through Oshawa later on.
Maybe people just go for {35}/{115} at that point despite a lower speed limit and a westward curve around Newcastle.

Could also be due to the tolls.

I would imagine more people take 412 because they aren't going as far east as 418. Or they don't know how busy the 401 is east of 412 and gamble in an effort to save whatever the distance is on 407 between 412 and 418 (18-20km or so). Maybe some take the 35/115, not being aware that they are paying more in toll on the 407 than they would on the 418 and driving an extra several km to do so.
