Will the ramp to the west/southwest of the South Street building have a handrail? It looks unsafe, as if it was just put in for aesthetic. How much else in the public realm is wheelchair accessible? (Love the zig-zag ramp!)

Yes there will be handrails on the stairs, and the whole pedestrian muse is wheelchair accessable as are all the buildings in the site.

The zigzag ramp isn't unsafe, infact it takes on that zigzag shape to get a comfortable slope.

Could we update the tread title to read South Village, as opposed to Fenwick development as the site has been rebranded. The tower had also been renamed The Vuze

Thanks

I wasn't refering to the zig-zag ramp as unsafe. Apologies if it sounded that way.

"Vuze" isn't that bad a name, though.

It was nice to meet you in person, Peter.

Here is a screen capture from the 3d tour. The rendering looks to be true to the work that has been done so far (new windows and the colour of the cladding). The glass safety railings on the balconies look great.

I am one of the people who likes the shape of the Vuze (Fenwick Tower) - it is unique and impressive. I don't think there is another tower in Canada with the same design. With the new cladding it will no longer be an eyesore.

Yeah when I first saw the renders last year of this iteration of the design, I was pretty disappointed that the building wasn't being totally glassed in as previously proposed, but now I'm liking this version. Keeping the unique shape while vastly improving the finish. This new render is pretty beautiful.

Anyone know what the cladding is? Looks like plastic but might be an aluminum composite. I hope it has a high UV rating as I would sooner see a faded concrete building than a faded plastic building.

Thank god this is happening. Finally, there won't be an embarrasing, phallic, concrete eyesore in the south end! My morning walk down south park will have a nice view!

So I wonder who will be on the hook for all the falling debris today from this. Area closed to vehicles and pedestrians for public safety.

It is aluminium composite panelling with 25 year warranty on fading.. there shouldn't be any issues with that occuring

It's nice to see that this developer had the foresight to dress up their temporary plywood balcony railings.

Maybe they should try that on the Mary Ann?

In which case, they may wish to consider a similar dressing-up of the whole of the Mary Ann.
