I like that they turned the top roofline around so that the taller side faces the ocean, I thought it looked awkward before.

Wow - the coloured balcony thing is really turning into quite a common feature!

Nice. I like the smaller building in the foreground, too.

I like it.

Is this yellow incorporation a Dalhousie grad thing?

I also should of noted that in the AllNS they said that construction now will not start until 2014...

I am willing to wait until 2014. This is a much better look.

I like this design much better than the previous design, which seemed to be more rectangularly shaped.

Have the balconies been eliminated? It seems to look better without.

Balconies can make a building look uglier, but they make life far more livable for the people who live there. I'd love it if the redesign of the building made Fenwick a desirable living location. For so long it's been "You live in the Fenwick? Oh... I'm very sorry for you..."

At least Fenwick's location is great. But, yes, I agree; no balconies would be horrible. It's a dealbreaker for me.

The end units have balconies though - if I read the rendering correctly.

The floor with no balconcy on the south side is likely the mechanical services floor. If you look at the existing building there are no windows at this level. Notice as well, the distance between floors is higher at this level. Perhaps this level is for something other than mechanical services as 33 floors isn't that high to have more than one mechanical room.

Look above the Fenwick Med Centre sign:

If the developer still has intentions of renovating Fenwick Tower, we are likely to see an updated rendering, correct?

I would really like to see this done, but the developer isn't exactly keeping us up to date on his progress.

Well, the above post just about kills any excitement I had for this.

Do you have any more information or just what is posted here? link - http://www.halifax.ca/calendar/index.php

It is somewhat encouraging to me that there are still plans to proceed with some type of redevelopment.

I wouldn't mind seeing the height reduced (i.e. storeys removed) if it meant that the precast walls on the balconies were replaced with something like railings or glass. I think the old proposal would have make Fenwick Towers too massive with the extra width of the south tower - maybe that will change?

What's the matter with the developer? Why the change of plans?

I just know what Dmajackson posted.

I remember reading about a year ago that Fenwick Towers was fully rented, so I guess there isn't a big incentive to spend a lot of money on it.

I tried to find the case number # 19293 on halifax.ca but couldn't find anything.

On twitter Brett Ruskin is tweeting about this so I would expect a story to appear on Global shortly. Hopefully more details soon.
