Two Skylines In One Shot???? - Page 7

I took this shot of St Paul and Minneapolis a few weeks ago.

I have not had the chance to really try it, but I think that you might be able to get the Wilmington skyline and Philadelphia skyline from the Reedy Point Bridge near Delaware City. Wilmington would be about 13 miles away, and Philadelphia about 25 miles away, as the crow flies. They wouldn't be quite in the same line, but it could be close.

Also, if this is possible, then you can get three "skylines" in one shot, all at almost the same angle. From the Bill Roth Bridge near St. Georges, you could get the Delaware City oil refinieries (their skyline), Wilmington, and Philadelphia.

Hamilton is hidden by the Escarpment from there because its downtown is below the Escarpment.

Again, if Hamilton's downtown were above the Escarpment, it would be easily visible from here as well, just off the left of the frame.

If only that 100 story tower had been built in Hamilton it wouldn't be obscured by the Escarpment (or some trees which is even more embarassing).

The highest point on the entire Peninsula is Sugarloaf Mountain on the opposite side of Lake Apopka northwest of Orlando. Elevation: 310 feet.

The area northwest of Orlando is actually pretty hilly. I couldn't believe my eyes first time I went through there. Some of the homes are up on hills with nice views.

St. Paul has to be the largest skyline that I don't instantly recognize. Maybe it's the heat, but I stared at it for a full 5 seconds like...what city is THAT (until I saw the capital dome and downtown Minneapolis). The siting of downtown St. Paul on the river bluff at the bend like that is VERY Kansas City like, and even has a downtown airport across the river in the bottoms like Kansas City (it was like staring at a different Bizzaro version of Kansas City or something).

St. Paul had a taller building than Austin did up until 2004.

I don't have a picture, but one year I stayed in a high rise hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota, near the Mall of America (

) and specifically asked for a north-facing room near the top. Out my window, straight ahead was Minneapolis, and if you craned your neck all the way to the right, you could just catch the St. Paul skyline off to the side.

Here is a huge pano from Bellevue (which doesnt show much of bellevue in it) to Seattle. I thought id make it a mission to post a couple since no one has yet. And these are the only 2 i can really find.

I've really enjoyed seeing all of the multiple skyline/city shots. All of the photographers have done a great job.

That's basically the exact shot I had in my mind when I opened this thread! Right by Office Max in Overlake, IIRC.

The Seattle/Bellevue Shots are by far my favorite.
I wonder if it is possible to get Seattle/Everett or Seattle/Tacoma maybe even Seattle/Bellevue/Everett in one shot?

I know a place where I could potentially get four skylines in one shot (Saitama-Kawaguchi-Tokyo-Yokohama), but I'm not entirely sure if it's really possible to get Yokohama in there since it's so far away. I would probably need a better lens than I have, and I would also have to wait until another season when it's less humid so you can see further away. I want to try. I could get Saitama-Kawaguchi-Tokyo anyway.

What is everyone's distaste with the Mall of America?! What were you expecting -- 5 MILLION SF of boutique stores you've never seen or heard of? Yes, it's a giant version of a normal mall, and I think it's a lot nicer than most normal malls....and far busier too. I think when people see the name "Mall of America" they are expecting a mall that should represent America or something. Instead, it's just the name of a large mall in Minnesota, and that's it (it's got NOTHING to do with America and does not represent America whatsoever, aside from being IN America). Hell, the developers/owners were CANADIAN!

Sorry for the off-topic rant....I just see this type of reaction (

) a lot from people in regards to the MOA and every single time all I can think of is "what were you expecting?"!

Tacoma is 30-35 miles away -- too far, I think.
