I am just waiting for the 50/50 draw but that is as screwed up as the Oilers.

despite their best intentions, this has to be the only group that could screw up a 50/50 draw for their fans.

it’s like they’re continually chasing this pot under the rainbow to be the biggest and best that the actual fan experience always seems to play second fiddle somehow.

at one point this town would have been buzzing all day long about what the team would have to do on the ice for two straight games and who would step up to get to the next series. it would have been about the hockey and the wisdom or the fallacy of breaking up the lines and combinations that got the the team to where it was.

instead, friday was all about getting a 50/50 raffle ticket as if the fans knew there wouldn’t be a chance for them to buy another one.

^ The issue here is you never put a system into production until it’s been tested.

They cut corners trying to get it up and running and it’s costing them now.

As for the Oilers it was all between the ears. Not mentally ready for the challenge.

Playoff hockey is a different animal and some players thrive on it and some wash out. It remains to be seen if this team and its management learns some lessons and will make the necessary changes to succeed next season.

Simply put, unacceptable.

Underestimated a (still) very skilled team.

Had zero, perhaps minus levels of intensity.

Defence were horrific.

Secondary scoring still not up to par.

Disappointment on Friday for sure.
Fitting really, that the Oilers fumbled the goalie pull. Just the attention to detail that was missing the entire series when it mattered most

Not sure if winning the lottery today will be reason for celebration or reason to find a hole to crawl into and die

Yamo - cold feet
Kass - cold feet
Athens - horrible luck and shit passing
Entire defense - cold feet
half the 3rd and 4th line - cold feet
Draisaitl - cold feet in 3 out of 5 games

As much as I want to be upset about their performance and intsnsity, I knew there was a high chance of this happening to any team after such a long stoppage in play, especially having to go straight into playoff calibre hockey. Unfortunately it happened to our team but they weren't alone, look at the Penguins.

James Neal is their most experienced playoff player, we needed Mike Green in the bubble for leadership. Chicago has way more players with good playoff experience.

What I'm most mad at is Tippet (and I actually like Tippet a lot) not playing Nuge with Drain and Yamo the entire serise. It was their best line in the regular season. In the Chicago series, they were put together only in the final ten minutes of the elimination game and was the most exciting hockey i seen the entire series even though they didn't score.

Absolutely Tip blew it. Smith left in too long. Broke up the number one line that had been on fire. Should have had Kass with McDavid and whomever (Archie). Tip blew it on these and others. Was he smoking something?

Don't overlook the impact of Kirby Dach. The Oilers didn't have a single player with size willing to play a big man game within the rules of playoff hockey.

Dach was fantastic, but they had 3-4 others step up as well... we didn't.

Also to be fair, other than the last game where Oilers failed to capitalize 5 power plays and a major, the first three games Oilers were taking way more penalties. Now, I know that most of them were fair calls, but this was supposed to be playoffs where refs are a lot more lenient. They definitely weren't lenient with the Oilers.

And then for the Hawks to get so many calls in the fourth game as if to try make it go to a fifth? NHL really does feel rigged sometimes.....

Tuukka Rask leaves the team in Toronto. The Bruins pay him over 7 million dollars per season. Seems odd. They won their game today. He felt this didn’t seem like real playoffs and he wanted to be with his family. I think I could settle for FaceTime for a while at that salary. He is signed until the summer of 2022. He may be taking a holiday for awhile. What if the Bruins win the cup now?

If he's done in Boston, the Oilers should be all over that.

Goaltending is not our issue, defence is...

Just look back to Dubnyk.

So you're ok with Koskinen? Mike Smith is a FA...

Rask or Holtby would be upgrades big time.

Up the compete level? Maybe a competent goalie who can make save once in a while can "up the compete level".

You putting stock in Koskinen still is baffling.
