Yes.

If anyone bothers to read the article I think most people are just asking a logical question why they can't stick the drydocks on the other side. Seaspan answered why that won't work but it seems a bit much to say they are all ignorant about port operations.

Because there's no room on the south side - not without spending a lot of money to move the big one to the north side, which'll be even more intrusive. Right now this only affects maybe two condos and people who use Spirit Trail.

In any case they can't do anything about it.

The problem with NIMBYs is not that they don't occasionally ask logical questions such as "Why not build them on the other side?". The problem is how they ask them:

"Why not build them on the other side, which you can obviously do because my untrained eye guesstimates there is space. Obviously the big, bad private company only wants to take away my views and harm the environment, and it isn't making a decision based on factors I haven't considered."

NIMBYs assume they are experts (which they rarely are) and that choices are made simply to annoy them. Community engagement is good, but information gathering should always come before support or criticism. NIMBYs turn that process on its head and ALWAYS criticize before they know the facts.

TBF that's not even limited to NIMBYs. Anybody at the first peak of the Dunning-Kruger curve will assume that they have the best solution that solves everything - one that's obviously being ignored out of malice or stupidity or willful ignorance.

But in reality community engagement is just to appease NIMBYs pretending to take their view into account (especially considering this is a Port of Vancouver operation) or to pretend to civic leaders/staff that they are somehow responsive to people. It's a balance of engaging people and boring them enough so they get disinterested in the process.

2 new Quayside Gantry Cranes for the Port of Vancouver arriving into English Bay this afternoon.
I wanted to add 2 more tower cranes in the Tower Crane Count Thread but I can't find that thread.

It's the same ship that dropped off those gantry cranes in July. These replace the two quayside cranes from Centerm that got sent to Nanaimo I think.

So these are again painted red. Too bad that one that was delivered earlier was left white.

I would love to see a video of them sailing through Lions Gate Bridge.

The white ones were ordered by a different dock/company.

Here's a real-time tracking of the ship https://www.vesselfinder.com/?imo=8700266
Low tide is at 11:08 pm tonight, it might make an attempt tonight. At this moment it's status is anchored.

You're correct. I assume these red ones are headed to Centerm, which has just been expanded. The white ones are on Vanterm, further east.

This has to be near the top of the list of interesting things to have sailed under the Lions Gate Bridge:

Looking at Centerm's schedule there is 9 hours on the 11th and 7 hours on the 11th and 14th with no vessels, my money would be for the off loading happening then.

I don't think it matters if there is one ship on the east side of the terminal for the cranes to be unloaded? I'm guessing it will be Tuesday or Wednesday.

I think they'll post an order on this page before the cranes move into the port:

jollyburger, Good information! I'm waiting for the mega ship MAERSK SINGAPORE to finish or start unloading from Centerm 5 (it will take days to offload its cargo, madog222 might be correct on the timeline).
I think once that ship leaves the ZHEN HUA 28 will be schedule to start moving in. Having said that, keep in mind that I'm no expert in cargo shipping operations
