No mention of 80th Street, though.

The new interchange at River Road is news to me.

Need to look deeper into that.

Haha, never mind, I got confused. Seeing how close they are together I kind of think of them as a single interchange.

They are very close together. Should be another challenging series for out of towners.

Do the 91 Connector and Nordel Way is just getting upgrades and not a full interchange like I'm the renders of this thread ? What a shock another scaled down project from this cheap government. Actually surprised the NDP didn't can this too .

@flipper316 Could you edit your post a bit? The words seem to be out of order so I have hard time understanding everything you’re saying, other than that NDP’s cheapening out again (which I guess is the most important part).

Well, at this point, I’ll say this: Wherever the traffic light on the connector remains, we will convert them to roundabouts down the road, so long as doing so won’t mess with the bog. The intersections with the connector are too close for any meaningful grade separation anyway.

Even a two-lane roundabout is not going to work with all the truck traffic. It really needs an interchange as anything else is waste of money.

As first thing though they should tune the traffic lights turning westbound on Highway 17 from Nordel as currently only few cars can make each green arrow. It takes forever to get on the highway.

For some reason the wording for the connector has never said "interchange" despite the renderings always showing such, so not sure why that is.

Anyways, I am pretty sure that these are new renderings of the project (at least I didn't notice them until this week).

Largely the same (but more detailed) except for the connector / 91 interchange upgrade.

Wow. All the interweaving. That's bonkers!

big surprise, it looks worse than before.

if you look at page 7, you can see a semi-detailed version of the original. they really should have learned their lesson the first time, no traffic signals between the 17 and 91...

Weaving seems inevitable because everything’s so close. I’m super salty about the traffic light between 91C and 91. It sure looks worse.

The design speed of the curves on the off/on ramps is going to be horrendous. Similar to the exit ramp from 17 westbound to 99 northbound. Or 99 southbound to 17 eastbound.

This is just as bad as Coquihalla Pass at Okanagan Connector, if not worse...

I mean, I see ways to make it free-flowing still, but there really is no point in me pointing them out. It really isn’t worth my energy because B.C. simply doesn’t do it right...

Where did you get those pics? Great job as always. Still not clear as to whether there's an overpass on the 91 C and Nordel Way. And not even surprised that the 91 and Nordel Way interchange added another light, what a joke.
If there is an overpass at 91 C and Nordel Way I wouldn't be surprised if the government scales it back and leaves it as a light as it currently sits. Their reasoning probably will be since you're gonna hit a new light at Nordel and 91 might as well keep the original light. Watch, some bs like that might happen.

I'll be its gonna be a bit of a gong show with trucks jockeying for position trying to get on the 91 C west from Nordel Way and the truck scale area and then trying to merge. Then within that short merge try to get over to so they can exit to the 17 west.

No kidding. This has more weaving in it than the Hairclub for Men.

We might as well change the name of the thread to Highway 17 (SFPR) downgrades.

Now that is an exaggeration and you know it

I do think that realistically some weaving was inevitable due to how close everything is without some serious over engineering that would have thrown the cost benefit out of whack.

The design in general is fine regarding everything west of highway 91, the problem is with the 91 / Nordel Interchange.

That just feels bizarre. The original concept did have a flyover but I think it still had at least one set of traffic lights.

What sucks is with the current design and a quick glance it seems that both lights could be removed with doing nothing more than adding two flyovers.

Metro youre absolutely right
this is ridiculous
I dont see how this is an imporvement at all

It substantiates my theory that BC has something against freeways
The thing is why was it even changed? the money was already allocated for it by the three parties Feds/Indians/Province.....Who made the decision to downgrade it?
