Yep, the current CPE project is only taking up the south half of the block. Hence, the "One" in its name, I suppose at some later time there could be a Two Central Park East, now if I could only figure out what the heck the "Central Park East" part of the name means, it doesn't make any sense

It took me a long time to figure its name out, but I think it might be its relation near the ASU Civicspace, which starts on the block to the northwest.

If and when they ever replace the downtown bus station, I propose that project be called the South Park Tower.

I think the name of the "bus station development" is Central Park. Central Park East makes sense to me as it is east of Central Park.

Wait, you mean the bus station is currently called Central Park? Or, there is some planned redevelopment of the bus station going to be called Central Park? I always thought the bus station was just called "Central Station" (in fact I was nearly positive thats what the sign says), so "Central Station East" would actually make more sense as a name, and it sounds better too.

Sean, I assumed the name might refer to the Civic Space as well, but I doubt they'll call the Civic Space "Central Park" (I certainly hope they don't), so I'm not sure that makes a ton of sense either. "Gordon Park" would probably be a more fitting name for it

There already is a Central Park on Phoenix, in the neighborhoods to the south of the tracks. I didn't think the nuances of that mattered to out-of-state developers.

John, I was speculating tongue in cheek that there would be a future likely development on the bus station site ... is there something you've heard more concrete?

No he means in stead of CPE it should be CSE (Central Station East). Central Park is a totally over-used name, I don't see why people pose by using that name. Particularly for a commercial project, those don't need nice names. Just call it Central Gateway and be done with it.

It was discussed on this site some time ago how the city had planned on building on that parcel and retaining the bus terminal under the building. Some far off transportation plan. But I believe it was infact called Central Park

I wonder if/how light rail passing right by the site would effect that concept. It certainly seems like that lot could use more density, if it would be practical from an emissions/traffic/access standpoint, not to mention parking.

LGO sidenote: why can't Arcadia get on-street parking? That place never has enough parking! Plus, it would look so much more like Pasadena with on-street parking...
I went to the Arlecchino Gelataria next door (to LGO) a few weeks ago, awesome awesome gelato. Way better than anything I've ever experienced before.

I don't know what those permits are for, but they sound pretty serious. Nice.

Don't walk, run there. It's an epiphany of flavor. A riot in your mouth. Think rave, then think spoonful.

Yes that was the rendering that I was talking about. But if what is said is true about that rendering being scrapped by the "supposedly current rendering" ,
oh well I guess we just accept what we can get.
However, The current rendering of CPE is actually sharp even though it is only
"supposedly 26 stories."

The site was disappointedly dead today, no workers on-site, no trucks, no equipment at all aside from the two construction trailers and the port-a-potties.

There is a new sign up for Holder Construction, which seems to be the general contractor. They built the US Airways HQ in Tempe.
