Agreed. With all the tech companies in Kits, it only makes sense.
There is no way industry would want to be anywhere near downtown due to the traffic and road networks in place. The trucks cause traffic chaos as they enter and leave the brewery. Right now, trucks can barely get out of the brewery onto 1st and can barely turn onto Burrard due to the small streets...don't think that bike lane on Burrard will help either, as they could barely make the left turn even when it wasn't there. If the city is serious about keeping industry there, they definitely need to redesign the streets in the area and provide direct and easy access to Burrard from the lot.
The train certainly made moving of goods much simpler. The raw materials came in from the South, and finished goods were easily moved North to downtown over the Kitsilano trestle.
