Welcome to page 3.

Well the development next to my neighborhood is going under rezoning approval. It should pass without any interuptions.

The Home Depot construction has started. They've laid some plumbing, and the concrete will soon begin being pored.

For the Westside, yes, for Kelowna, no.
I'm actually in favour of the big boxes being built in Westbank because it will reduce traffic on the bridge, sgnificantly.
The Home Depot in Kelowna is about 20-25km away from this one.

New Westin Hotel Resort
There was news yesterday of a hotel on the property across from Prospera Place, the original site of the Sheraton Resort and Conference Centre of a few years ago. That is what the preload was for. That is another story.

The land is a parcel in the Canada Lands property.

Yesterday’s news was about a Westin Hotel Resort & Spa for the property which this column released as a story last July.

The Starwood Hotel people who own the Westin brand were here back then to check out things and were very impressed with the market.

The hotel project is part of Stanley Yasin’s ongoing local interest in the hospitality business in the Okanagan.

He successfully opened his Summerland Resort and Aston hotel in December with a second phase to be added. The Summerland Waterfront Resort has just been awarded a four star plus rating. It was the home for a month last fall of the George Clooney crew making a movie in the area. They raved about the facility and the service.

Starwood Hotel group banners are the Westin, Sheraton, Four Points, St. Regis, Le Meridien, and the W Hotels. There is a Sheraton Four Points on Hotel row in Kamloops. When Bear Mountain Resort in Victoria sought a major franchise for their choice was Westin, the Westin Bear Mountain Victoria Golf Resort and Spa.

The official announcement is said to be next week in Vancouver.


Hopefully this one gets built.

There architecture isn't all that original, but it looks good.


There's a bunch of development in Rutland, thanks to the high-limit being lifted.

BIG NEWS:


A look at the new $140 million Westin Hotel planned for Kelowna's north end beside Prospera Place. It will be a 220-room, 20-storey luxury condominium-hotel and is scheduled to open in the summer 2009.

So, the Westin, I believe, is to start contstruction soon.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

And, it may rival Discovery Pointe for it's height.

It will start latter this summer - early fall. The sales center is being constructed. It will be 20 stories and the Pointe is 21 ( or 22 ) depending on who you talk to.

Also, there is a dev app for an 11 stories residential / commerical behind Zellers on Springfield. Don't have any info on it yet.

Yeah, but being a hotel, I think it make actually be taller than Discovery.

Hey, I'm updating the diagrams (we now have a ton of drawings that say u/c, but the completion date is 2006 still).

Are ICON and Centuria still u/c?

Depends if you consider pre-loading under construction for Icon. Centuria is about 4 / 5 floors up. The sandman Tower is under construction at 2 floor. The Conservatory Phase 1 is at 7 / 8. The Lofts Tower is toped out...

Unnamed 26 storey will be beside the Icon - site prep started.
