From the bridges i passed by already, those:

1. Ponte Vasco da Gama Lisbon Portugal
2. Ponte 25.abril Lisbon Portugal
3. Ponte Rio-Niterói Rio de Janeiro Brazil
4. London Bridge London UK
5. Ponte Hercílio Luz Florianopolis Brazil

All others smaller.

Yep, i like Golden Gate, Milau, Oresung and the China ones, but have never seen in person only photos and TV. So for me it is not valid yet.

out of bridges that i've seen and crossed in person:

1. mackinac bridge, michigan
2. firth of forth rail bridge, scotland
3. golden gate bridge, san francisco
4. brooklyn bridge, new york
5. ponte vecchio, florence

HM: tower bridge, london

here's a pic of Mighty Mac, my sentimental favorite. at over 5 miles in total length, this is the longest bridge in the great lakes region and was the longest suspension bridge in the world measured between anchorages when completed in 1957.

My favourite bridge is probably the Great Belt Bridge in Denmark. It is really beautiful and massive (one of the largest main spans in the world)-- especially in person.

Other bridges I like:

Chongming bridge, Shanghai:

(sina.com)

Öresund Bridge, Copenhagen-Malmö (for home sick reasons )

Jiaozhou Bay Bridge, Qingdao, China (u/c)

News.cn

Millau Viaduc, France

SBA73

Liede Bridge, Guangzhou, China

Skyscrapers.cn

Basically all of the bridges that China has completed in the last 5-10 years and the ones that are planned look amazing. Check out this SSC thread for Chinese bridge porn.

I just have to get a few more shots in of the Mackinac Bridge in. Shameless, homerish boosterism, I know.

As a bridge geek, I can only comment on the ones that I have laid eyes on or been across

1-Golden Gate
1-Millau Viaduct (both are tied in my book)

3-Mackinac
4-Hells Gate
5-Pont du Gard (really an aqueduct)

Other nominations
* Tsing Ma & entire Lantau Link bridges
* St. John's Bridge
* Brookyln Bridge
* Skybridge between the Petronas Towers
* Eads Bridge

At least for the past 150 years, there is one thing that America done right, designed the world's most advanced, beautiful and the most variety of bridges. The torch has been passed to China and the like, but hard to argue with the sheer quantity & quality that the US built from the early 1800's to the late 20th century.

Aww, love the bridge porn.

Right now, Golden Gate's my fave. That darn thing has lured me to San Francisco twice over!

Do I have to pick just four others?
I also love San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, and Manhattan Bridge. Thanks to their famous neighbors, they don't get anywhere near as much love as they deserve.
I also love Mighty Mack, Verrazano, George Washington, and a slew of others.
Oh yeah, Sunshine Skyway Bridge gets a vote too.

I've had some fun lately doing "character portraits" of some of these bridges, I might post links. Since most of you are guys, I'm sure you'll at least appreciate Sunshine Skyway's character. She's cute!

The Brooklyn Bridge really stands alone in my book, but a few others would include the George Washington Bridge, Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, Manhattan Bridge and the Hellgate Bridge. Pretty much every span in the New York Metro Area has its merits, but the Golden Gate has to be tossed in there as well.

Just an FYI, it's George Washington Bridge's birthday, turning 78 this year.

I've always liked the bridge that connects Astoria, Washington with Seaside, Oregon.

Sydney Harbor Bridge.

Not only is it incredibly good looking in my book, and fairly unusual, but they let you climb it. In fact, any picture will show two or three little chains of tiny people on it. Plus it's in one of the most beautiful cities on earth, and helps make that city iconic.
