I've driven up for concerts a few times. It's a great college town.

Going by a quick wikipedia check - the University of Kansas and Texas State are about the same size, but Lawrence has 40,000 more people than San Marcos, is generally more dense/centralized, and is independent of the Kansas City metro to the east. Where are you getting your numbers?

Lawrence is a great little city, no doubt about it. One of my good friends just got his Geology degree there, graduated this past May. He was at the same field camp, only last summer...

I've always said that it is the finest town in Kansas. Old Bill Burroughs, I imagine, thought the same thing.

I've spent significant time in Lawrence, Madison and Boulder; and Lawrence is my favorite of the three. Boulder's proximity to the mountains is huge, but the campus in Lawrence is just so beautiful, and the women even moreso. It really is a heavenly place.

Oh I know, Ive never seen such a high percentage of beautiful women in one place. Kansans really know how to grow em I guess.

But yeah, Lawrence is probably one of the best smallish towns Ive ever been to, it was amazing and I cant wait to go back someday.

Nicely done. Lawrence is a great town, and birthplace of one of my grandmothers.

It was settled by a bunch of abolitionists from the gritty Merrimack Valley mill town of Lawrence, Mass, where the city gets it's name, and likely why Massachusetts Ave is the main st.

Aww Rock Chalk Jayhawk! I enjoy Lawrence, though I do wish the campus wasn't so car friendly

It has an amazing and vibrant downtown for its size. The sidewalks were packed with people and it wasnt even a weekend. I felt like at times like I was walking around a busy NYC street, which was crazy considering the town is only 90,000 people.

The geographic center of the (contiguous) US.

Wow, nice. Lots of cute girls, I see... Almost makes me wish I'd looked at state schools a bit more.

Reminds me allot of Denton, Tx (Home of the University of North Texas (My alma mater) and Texas Womens University) which is just north of DFW.

Boulder is very very similar to lawrence, I go to CU on Boulder's campus and love it. I've also been to lawrence couple times visiting family - great town, very nice. The only thing I think I like better about Boulder is the mountains and the proximity to Denver.
