Interesting shot of Fredericton, taken from the northside of the Saint John River.

You can see a portion of downtown in the foreground, including the new convention centre, with the red brick buildings extending up the hill in the background belonging to the University of New Brunswick.

Most (in fact the vast majority) of cities weren't planned, they just "happened".

The only planned cities tend to be capitals. Most other cities developed where they did because of some local geographic factors or economic advantage. The advantage that Niagara Falls has is that it is located next to a major natural attraction and is in close geographic proximity to tens of millions of people.

Niagara Falls is not less of a city than, say, Halifax because it was not planned. It's just taking advantage of the attributes that it possesses. It will never have a financial district like Halifax, but that's OK. Halifax will never have a 50 storey hotel either. All's fair in love and war.

Very well spoken Monctonrd.

As some just stated, Niagara Falls is a Resort City like Whistler, although larger. If there was a skyline of comparison, I would post it. But in Canada the city skylines of Niagrara Falls and Mississauga are unique, in fact I can't think of similar city matches anywhere in North America, with the exception of the far larger Las Vegas, and perhaps North York Centre, or Burnaby.

There is very little that is real about Las Vegas although I admire the innovation and drive of the city.

Exactly. People are always referring to Niagara Falls as the "Las Vegas of Canada", but IMO it has far more in common with Atlantic City.

I was doing some streetviewing around Canada and found that Trois-Rivières has got a pretty decent skyline for a city with 130 000. It also has a great downtown from what I saw. Seems underrated!

^Nice! St. John is another pleasant surprise to see.

What's under construction to the left of the tall tower in the first 2 shots?

That would be the new Law Courts Building. To the left of that you will see a couple of small blue buildings. It's quite hard to see next to them. But next to them is a 7 level Parkade under construction as well. Also, to the far right of the second picture you can see the steel frame of an 8 story condominium project under construction. These shots should look a bit different the end of this year.

You are so right! Compared with Sherbrooke (~200,000), it owns!

- Trois-Rivières' tallest: Place Royale, 15 stories (office), in the middle of the downtown! It's the «tall» tower in your picture.

- Sherbrooke's tallest: Cégep (Pavillon 6), 13 stories (residential), far away from the city's core...

Those pictures of our downtown are mine:

I don't know if there is a height limit, but every one of those buildings (and the cranes) are federal government offices. The government loves big floor plates, so I doubt there will be anything taller than the current tallest at les Terrasses de la Chaudière.
