How did that random highrise get to be in that spot on Boundary road north area?

I like the randomness of highrises but this one has always intrigued me.

It's a retirement building, about 19 stories, from the 1970s; NIMBYs didn't used to mind having highrises as long as they were full of old people.

The gorgeous photo by Phil Marion in #848, of sunset over Lake Ontario, has been mislabelled. The skyline is of Humber Bay Shores, not Mississauga. But more importantly, thanks for posting those wonderful shots.
