I went by today. They were working to assemble the mobile crane so the tower crane should go up tomorrow.
Not too impressed with Aqua Vista, the finishes are just not up to par.
Also took the opportunity to take a ride on the new water taxi service. It is really great, fast and comfortable. Worth the extra money if you are in a rush or want something a bit nicer than the ferry.

I may be a bit biased having just moved into the Aqua Vista but I think it is by far the nicest building to date! The crane is indeed being assembled tomorrow. I saw you snapping your shots as I was enjoying the sun on my balcony.

I like the Aqua Vista as well. I wasn't a fan of the precast going all the way up the tower in the previous 2. I like that it was included in this building but only on the lower floors. Call me old fashioned but I love the glass boxes.

What are the ragged looking things on the precast (?) panels on the second and third floors in the last photo? Some panels have them and some don't, and they're all in different positions.

Spacers- they will be removed. They are still working on finishing up some of the common elements of the building. Including the pool - which can't be done until that crane comes down next year - which is why I was so excited for it to be going back up.

Were you the guy with the two dogs? lol
Nice to know we have forumers in the new buildings.

There are elements of this building that I do really like. I love how it narrows on one side giving a very thin profile from certain angles. I love the corner setback as well. My issues lie with the lack of continuity between the base of the buildings. I always had the impression that the stone used on the first two towers would be carried across on to the Killick and Aqua Vista. The cement panels just don't cut it for me. I also have issue with the massive mechanical equipment on the roof with no effort at all to try and hide it.

As a resident, I'd rather have the roof machinery that comes along with A/C etc of the AV than having a pretty roof like the Anchorage

I'm not arguing the necessity of the equipment. It being such a prominent building on the waterfront there should be design measures taken to hide these. You can create a fake floor, you can put a box around it, you can build a dome, there are many options available.
I had always expected high design standards for Kings Wharf and this in my eyes fails to deliver.

The Killick is coming along very quickly. Already working on level 2.

It is good to see that the Killick is progressing.

Unable to confirm who the tenant is but a law office is being constructed on the ground floor of the Aqua Vista - opposite il Trullo.

Not sure if this has been posted yet but the King's Wharf planning page has been amended recently to include a description of proposed changes to the project phasing: http://www.halifax.ca/planning/appli...312Details.php

Here's the amended site plan with labelled buildings and secondary access:

Phase I is to be expanded to include building F (A, B, C, and D are built or under construction). F is described as a "grocery Store and auxiliary retail/office".
Phase II will cover buildings G, H, I, and L. I is one of the proposed towers.
Phase III will be J, K, M, and O.

I was fortunate to get to see some of the units and their views up close this weekend.

From the back of The Keelson.

Tenth floor of Aqua Vista.

My bet is the current condo owners will protest the later phase towers as being too tall and blocking the view to which they are entitled.

LOL That is why they always build the "back" ones first...

Ha!

Now that we have an actual tenant to speak with...

... is it true-- as Colin May on here has posted a few times-- that this building is incredibly empty, with zero owners and renters? Rather, the building is full of empty units rented by shell companies that are subsidiaries of the developer?
