I agree. I’d rather see the province have an actual highway with ramps and exits on the bypass but for this section it fits well. I think some people just don’t like roundabouts cause they’re different and they don’t like change. I grew up very close to the first roundabout they built in PEI in Travellers Rest and I can’t stress enough how much time it saved my family from waiting in traffic.

https://img1.wsimg.com/blobby/go/231...=1619276163562

I believe this may be the first HOA development in Charlottetown. Correct me if I'm wrong. You can't blow a fart without their say so! Not a good precedent! You can't even work on your own car in your driveway, for petes sake.

Here's some of the restrictions:

17. No exterior television or radio aerials or satellite receivers shall be erected or maintained on any part of the Lands with the exception of receivers that do not exceed twenty four inches in diameter. Any satellite receiver installed shall be placed in a location where it will not interfere with the appearance of the building on the Lands.
18. No trucks or other vehicles having a payload of over one (1) ton shall be placed, located, kept on or maintained on the Lands.
19. No recreational trailers or vehicles, commonly known as travel trailers, camper trailers, pick-up coaches, motorized campers, motorized homes, boats or other similar vehicles shall be located, kept on or maintained on the Lands.
20. No major repairs to motor vehicles, boats or trailers shall be carried out on the Lands......

You actually don't have any freedom to do anything.
This will be interesting. I hope people read this carefully before buying property there.

After a long delay due to other buildings being constructed, King Kar and East Coast Trucking, construction has continued on the St. Peters Rd apartments. As stated by APM it would start on this project after these other projects were completed, and it has.
The porta-pottie is in place, and that is probably the best indicator, the tool shed is back and building materials are in place.

This is a strange comparison. You can only really compare Greater Charlottetown to greater Halifax or Moncton, etc. Stratford is only one area of greater Charlottetown. I mean if you want to that then Southend Halifax would have an average price of over 1 million or Bedford of 600,000 for example.

I concur, another Saltwire article that doesn't compare apples to apples. I just listed the article for interest sake. If I'm not mistaken, Saltwire is out of Halifax, right!

I believe it is. Not the greatest comparison, but it is interesting nonetheless. I would have never thought Stratford would be so high, crazy!

Construction begins on new Summerside hotel

Hotel with approximately 80 rooms is going up next to Credit Union Place.

"Whether you're here as a convention guest, whether you're in town as a business client, whether you're here for a minor hockey tournament or a swim meet … the ability to be able to stay on site during all those activities is certainly fantastic," said Desrosiers".

All good, I guess!! The other reason they didn't mention about this hotel is to help get the Credit Union Place out of a huge debt situation. $$Millions are owed. I'm sure the concept is good but they have a problem in that there are two new hotels in Charlottetown that are proposed that will go along with the ones that are already there. Charlottetown is only 35 minutes away. It'll take a lot of PR to generate the tourism to attract people to stay in Summerside. I suppose there is the casino!!

Ahh you best me to it! Good news for Summerside, I think this project is needed and should push the few hotels in the city to possibly do some renovations to their own.

P.E.I. developer Tim Banks buys interest in Charlottetown Mall

CBC NEWS PEI

Banks and Killam have split the purchase of RioCan's shares, so Banks owns a 25 per cent stake alongside Killam's 75 per cent.
The deal closed last week.

"We're going to expand the centre and develop it in conjunction with the Sherwood Crossing development that we're doing to the back of the property," Banks said. "It's going to be a very hands-on approach to revitalizing the centre."

Banks said the branded stores that have long-term leases will remain in the mall. The developers plan to reposition the food court. And they plan to welcome new nationally-branded stores with local investment rather than run by head offices elsewhere.

Banks said the move is strategic, to better connect the mall and the exploding residential community around it as well as better connect with UPEI.

John Yeo Drive Plaza and King Kar

APM's two buildings on John Yeo drive are now or nearing completion. The plaza is fully occupied already and King Kar will be moving in soon. The signage for the building has yet to be installed but that will be soon. Due to Covid, King Kar was originally to be completed the first months of this year.
Now that the work is nearly complete for John Yeo, attention has moved to resume the apartments on St. Peters Rd and Richmond St. (see next post)

Things are moving along with this apartment building. Should see a faster completion now that there are more workers available from the John Yeo projects.

UPEI Multi-function Building

The outside work on this project will really take off now that the summer is soon to arrive. The brick for the exterior is delivered and we should see that installation start soon.

Water St Apartments

This project is moving along. One thing I wish they would have done here is add another 3-5 floors to this building.
A perfect location for a view. Oh well, I guess they rather those apartments outside Charlottetown and contribute to
the problem of sprawl.
