No, I believe it is about what Canada Inns was proposing for The Somerset block / Radisson etc...$150 million development..CANADA PLACE............very few details so it does not sound credible but maybe after covid subsides.

It was a - very likely - lie to prevent Somerset from being designated a heritage building. Its generally agreed that he claimed they have some massive project just to prevent the buildings heritage status so he doesn't need to put effort/money into maintaining it. That nothing has been said about it in the last ~year should say enough.

Ha... those were the days. At the time the city was still coming out of its 90s doldrums and population growth was minimal. I honestly wondered if we'd ever see any more substantial new towers built here.

The Wawanesa model is mine, though the TNS one isn't.

Here are some street views of the filled out TNS complex, it will be crazy having a dense cluster of glass in the city.

Beautiful work, Triton!

Wish I could see it myself in Google Earth.

Solid angles from the Canadian thread.

Notable proposals are 285 Smith & Portage Place's twin tower makeover, with True North Square's final phases filling out the area around MB Hydro Place. 300 Main has nearly finished construction.

Hopefully the big boys go through (along with some.... changes... to 285 Smith), I'd love to get some winter skyline shots with a frosted tree canopy while I'm still living here

We need a 500 footer to put an exclamation mark on our skyline.

500 ft would be great but wouldn’t be that much of a standout on the skyline. Let’s go for 600 or 650! Perhaps it’s unrealistic but a man can dream can’t he?

Why stop at 650? Why not go 700 or 800? We can only dream, right?

Some miscellaneous photos from walks over the past few weeks:

South Portage

This crossing light never fails to amuse me

300 Main is shaping out to be a nice addition to the skyline

Exchange / Red River College Polytechnic

(from late march)

Looking north down Adelaide.

Under the new skywalk over Elgin.

Wide shot looking north down from Adelaide

The artwork that was added to the corner is absolutely beautiful.

The new storefronts on Princess look nice - It will be great once they are filled.
