I was by this project a while ago and it looked like they had most of the front-side done. Only a couple of posts weren't completed.

Has anyone been around this area lately?

EDIT: I have checked the Armour Group website and the building is now set to open in February which means that the exterior work must almost be done.

I was past this site tonight but unfortunately due to the horrible flash on my camera and the lack of streetlamps on South St none of my pictures turned out.

What I can say though is the exterior work is done with the small exception of something going up on the upper floors. They still have to landscape and reinstall the sidewalk. For a red-brick disease building it didn't look all that bad.

Yah, I was by the other day and it looks remarkably similar to the Lexington. Not bad though.

Across the street they are also doing some work on the VG. I don't know if they are just redoing the brick and panel facade or putting something new one, but half of the east side of the building has no brick left.

^The VG is a white wall right now. Who knows maybe they'll actually put windows in that place...

I was by this building today, and they have signs up advertising condo style rentals, and they list February 2009 as the opening date.

They've even put the sidewalk back finally!

And SMU for the matter. Its only a five minute walk from South and Wellington...

Its nice to see this coming to a close. It might not be big or have retail/office included but it'll help out this part of town.

This and the new sidewalks/pavement on Wellington will defenitely look a lot better than this time last year.

Now if only they would put something half decent on the vacant lot across the street and fix up the VG...

Indeed, when I was by there this week I was struck by the fact that it looked almost exactly like a scaled-down version of the Lexington. Almost identical based upon memory, but it would be interesting to see side by side pics of the two. Perhaps the architect was the same and he saved some money by recycling the plans.

Nice, noticed that the other day.

I really like the comment on the site "A smart urban development. Probably the single most important step that can be taken is ensuring that we build sustainable communities for the future. 5800 South was developed on a dense urban site, close to public transit and uses existing municipal Infrastructure"

if we could only get people to realize how true this statement is to developing a strong urban core.

The floor plans aren't too bad... although they seem a little constrictive.

This project is very near completion and is scheduled to open by the end of the month. Armour is currently developing a contact list for potential renters when the building opens.

Unfortunately I didn't have my camera on me at the time but I was by this recently and overall its not a bad building. The only complaint I really have is about the random brick wall out front. I think it would of looked better with a landscaped area.

Meh, get rid of that little unfortunately nice house and shitty apartment building next to it and put it another tower.

The building looks okay, though it is a little "Clayton Park".

Most of these new buildings are fairly disappointing at street level. The concrete base and long brick wall do not look very inviting for pedestrians. It would also be nice if storefronts were a little more common on these buildings, although of course there's not a demand for stores in every apartment tower.
