Any one attend Tulane’s 300 S Liberty St public meeting? It sounds like a great idea to spruce up that section of the city?

I can't be the only one who thinks the whole Avondale/Port of South Louisiana thing is a scam. Now they're refusing to divulge the price

Those wharf plans look awesome... so much better than a frozen chicken plant.... continuous access along the riverfront from Canal St up to the Bywater will be transformational. Hopefully the Belt RR can clean up some of those sidings too and make way for a streetcar extension to Elysian Fields and/or some more parking.

Maybe one day they can punch the riverwalk upriver through the cruise terminal to Mardi Gras World and the power plant too.

Comments and feedback to Riverfront park

We are able to comment and give feedback on the schematic design. The website is https://audubon.wufoo.com/forms/s10d71et1vgijaf/ The Audubon Institute will close comments on 7/31/23. I agree with the residents of the French Quarters that a Ferris Wheel shouldn’t be placed in the newly published designs, however, I think a respectable spot for a Ferris Wheel would be next to Spanish Plaza. This will drive more traffic to the ferry and Algiers.

Plus the ferris wheel would generate revenue for the park. But I heard local residents complained about that so it was scrapped. I love the renderings and it looks to be a great addition to the revitalized riverfront.

Does the Marigny Neighborhood not complain about something?

Thanks for the link. I left my feedback.

I never thought about a Ferris Wheel there. That would work great and it's right there by Fulton Street. It'll help pull people in that direction, which will happen anyway once the River District starts adding tenants/amenities. The entire downtown area will be walkable. A loooooong walk, but walkable.

Tulane to open two new dorms; part of $185M project to bring more students on campus

Tulane University is set to open two new residence halls this fall, part of a $185 million, multiyear student housing project that once completed will house hundreds more undergraduates on campus and attempt to relieve some of the stress placed on nearby neighborhoods.

The new dorms, called Lake and River, are located at the former site of Bruff Commons in the heart of the university's Uptown campus. Together, they will add 697 new on-campus beds for undergraduate students in single and two-person suites....

I wonder if this means they're closing the Oakwood Mall one?
