Landmark Place. Will new owners fix outside appearance?

Has anyone heard if the new owners of Landmark Place are going to reclad the outside? It looks as though they started something and have stopped.

I don't believe so. They just recently updated all the balconies & repaired and painted all the concrete outside. I think that's it. It will remain a blight on our skyline until our city finally allows taller buildings to hide it lol

Honestly the tower itself isn’t that ugly if you ask me. It’s the podium that needs work.

I noticed this weekend that the new owners have installed large new banners at the top of the podium advertising the apartments. We’ll see how much money they decide to sink into it.

The new owners (InterReit) will just put lipstick on the pig. Doing the bare minimum to increase rents is the M.O. If this were an owner occupied building (like the Olympia), it might be a different story. Since people live in the units don't care about the appearance relatively speaking, this lovely beacon on the skyline will radiate 1970s for the time being.

I have always been a fan of Landmark...it looks like nothing else, and has been the signature tower since the 70's. I actually have thought that the "Carlisle" Building at the intersection of Lyon and Laurier in Ottawa, has a similar look and vibe to it (built around the same time period). I think of it as the spiritual cousin to Landmark...

To me, the only redeeming qualities are its height and the number of units.

I remember going to Hamilton as a kid to visit my great Aunt and Uncle and being impressed by the height but then upon closer inspection being like "ugh it's just so darn ugly"

Edit: with that being said I'd love to check out the view from the top. Does it have an observation deck for residents?

And that's exactly why it should not be the beacon in the hamilton skyline, we need a handful of towers to be taller and at least one of them to be a new signature tower that will be "our postcard" tower we can be proud of going forward! And this signature tower need to be more than height and beauty, it needs to be mixed use and have a podium where the general public can interact with and a possible observation deck and restaurant up top.

Skyscrapers when done right can instill a sense of pride within the city. There is nothing "landmark" about Landmark Place.

There is an observation deck, but the last I heard was that it is abandoned. It's the boxy part of the building at the very top...

Here's the views from 2008...

There's virtual tours of the units here: https://www.clvgroup.com/apartments/100-main

It looks like they're renovating all of the units...

And you can check out all of the views...

I miss the Christmas Tree lighting, not sure why they stopped doing that. I always had that as child hood reference to Christmas and gifts and such. Kinda like the tour around Ravenscliffe on Christmas Eve to see all the massive manors all lighted up.

That's a really nice unit.
(I know... there's a that's what she said joke around that, or a Champ story if anyone remembers that radio comedy bit from Q107)

I've been on the roof. It's an incredible view as you would imagine but this reno has been underwhelming to say the least. Lost potential once again.

I was waiting for the bus to leave the downtown GO Centre, and got an extended view of the south and west sides of Landmark (though it will always be Century 21 to me )

The panelling between the floors on the upper portion STILL looks like shite. And that "ribbing" that's almost halfway up... WTF?
