On the other hand, you have Barnett removing a spire that he never wanted, and said he wouldn't have on his tower. But the big towers like 50 Hudson and the Spiral end up being a little higher than planned, but not for the sake of vanity height. Same with 9 Dekalb.

It all depends on design, but yeah.

I don't know if they will give a full tower reveal. But they might. They said they would be back at CB5 with the design early next year. That could be the first week of Jan or Feb when the Land Use committee meets.
Let’s hope .

This tower will look great here along with Vanderbilt and Chrysler...

I can tell you right now, leasing brokers would be pissed that the corner offices don't have glass.

Yeeesh. Man, that thing really needs a spire, and a big one at that. Not for greater height, but because it simply wouldn't look good without one (if that massing ends up being final).

Imagine the lighting on that tower. Would be cool if they deck it out with some lighting displays for some light shows.

The fancy spire designed for the 1 WTC but was never completed (to save $20 million) would work well here.

They would get more bang if they released the design then, rather than wait for the next community board session. Go ahead and blow us away.

Sorry if this has been answered already but is it possible the massing will differ in the final design or is this supposed to basically be it? ( + whatever facade etc.)

I'm not totally sold on it, the tapering is kinda overkill.

Those Instagram renderings do look super cool though, I bet it'll grow on me.

That specific massing is for this tower. Facade details can be anything, but thats what they are working with. It'll be pretty much that unless for some reason they start from scratch. The tapering, like with 270 Park, is classic New York (in part due to zoning).

I absolutely love that massing. I hope that it reaches the whole 1,640'!

I hope so too. He specifically said they have to make it fit in that massing. Refinements will probably be ongoing, as they haven't fully settled on floor heights.

What are you talking about? This is just someone's artwork, not what's getting built.
