Yeah, I've tried to research them a bit but they seem to have a minimal online presence. I know they were involved in K2 here (bought it from Fifield?), but don't know much about their work in NY, aside from some involvement in the IAC Building.

Eckberg questioned whether another high-rise building is appropriate for downtown.

Lol.

I checked online and see that DX-16 translates to "downtown mixed use" with a floor area ratio of 16.

How does a floor area ratio of 16 translate to a possible max height for a building on the lot?

I didnt realize that the spire hole was that full of water. 3 years from now it will be a full pool overflowing. I know its been discussed before but with that much water, the core foundation has got to be fucked from water damage.

Wouldn't the people who worked on the Spire have sealed off what needed to be sealed before things were put into hold?

I would assume they were hoping work would eventually resume on the Spire so the developer would want to protect their investment as best they could.

This gets brought up a few times a year, no damage will be done to the foundations which are buried in the mud. There is no more water in this hole than there is in the mud under any other building in Chicago, that's why there is water in the hole. The water table is that high throughout the city and therefore all cassions throughout Chicago are just as inundated by moisture. The tops of the cassions in the hole stop at the bottom of the hole and are covered by gravel and mud so that vehicles don't have to avoid them until they uncover them to build the mat. Thats no different than the cassions being buried under gravel and mud beneath a 2000' tower.

Thanks to GREC Architects for sending a couple shots of the last beam being lifted.
