Great news for the local and state Tech workforce Dillard University and Southern University @ Shreveport were selected for a partnership with Apple to diversity the tech industry. Louisiana is the only state that Apple selected two schools.

Just thinking that the fencing under the overpass would make a great popup arts market or something if the right conditions were set.

A couple examples out of Florida:

Gotta say, the new bikeway networks planned for Algiers and the Marigny are very impressive, even compared to the so-called "bike utopias" like New York and Portland.

As someone who rode a bike and lived car-free in NOLA for several years, I'm glad to see DPW really taking the lead on these under Cantrell.

Does look like they are building something firs class that can be very useful and emphasize safety. Curious to see what route they go with the bike share since Uber pretty much through the whole business model out the window and pawned it off to Lime which only does scooters.

Heres an example of how they are redoing some roadways starting this Fall

#Stormwaterlots are urban greenspaces that accept large volumes of stormwater runoff from the neighborhood. The lots are designed to be multifunctional, serving as green infrastructure demonstrations, eliminating blighted, vacant property, increasing green space in dense, urban areas, and reducing localized flooding from rainstorms. #livingwithwater #resilient #graygreen #stormwaterlots @mayorcantrell #PontillyNeighborhoodStormwaterNetwork @ Pontchartrain Park

Palmisano
21 hrs ·
Old meets new at @hotelstvincent in the Lower Garden District where our team has been working to ensure the project steadily rolls forward while keeping the health and safety of the field team and trade partners top of mind.

Five historic buildings on the property are being transformed into a 75-room boutique hotel complete with a pool, bakery and bars in a lush tropical setting. The newly erected steel structure will house 8,000 SF of event space and a commercial kitchen.

Stay tuned for more over the next few months leading up to the project’s Spring 2021 opening.

Groundbreaking ceremony for the redevelopment of the Lake Forest Tower in New Orleans East is Wednesday. Glad to see this building finally getting put back into commerce after being vacant since Katrina. The building will go back to it's original use as senior housing.

New Orleans awarded $5.27M for ferry improvements

New Orleans has been awarded over $5.27 million in Federal Transit Administration funding to upgrade the car landing at the Lower Algiers Ferry Terminal.

The funding is part of $47.5 million in passenger ferry grants awarded to 12 projects.

A news release from the city says the upgrades will “improve the automobile transition from queuing onto the ferry for riders who rely on the car carrying ferries of Lower Algiers to get to the industrial plants in the regional parishes outside of New Orleans and residents and tourists who rely on the passenger ferries to traverse between the East and West Banks of New Orleans.”
