Yeah we're pretty awesome.

Seriously it is great to see such a large tower go ahead so soon after the last round of skyscrapers that have gone up (EAP, Centennial Place I & II, Jamieson Place, Penn West I & II, and The Bow) and while the world is arguably still in a recession.

From Calgary's perspective, what recession?

This is my favourite new Calgary skyscraper and I too, like it even more than the Bow. My only complaint with EAP is, why didn't they make the "attic" white instead of yellow to pay clearer homage to the rockies that it's roof is clearly designed to emulate?

^It's almost white in person, just looks more yellowy in some photos (white balance, etc.)

Depending on the light conditions (sunny, cloudy, etc) the building can look quite different. I was at Signal Hill on Tuesday as the sun was setting and the building has a very blue hue to it.

Looked nice seeing all the lights on too. It must be in full use by now!

Not to mention it's little brother is on the way to compliment it.

being the smaller twin will actually complement this fantastic skyscraper very nicely. it will be facing the opposite direction, so the wont look as twin-like, as most others do. they will instead look like similar towers. i like this project very much. no.... i love this project very much. lol

Too bad that this isn't the smaller twin. Would be nice if EAP 2 was 260 m.

Well according to this article, over the last 2 years, downtown Calgary has leased the equivalent of seven EAP's (the taller one). So really, the taller twin could easily have been the shorter twin, and the twin would have no problem being leased! But FAR, shadowing rules and parking requirements limited this projects height.

To be fair, it is best in the long run to build a forest of 200 m towers and then the city density and skyline would be prepared for even larger office towers in the future. Hopefully Herald and Ioco will really get built at that time.

stranger things have happened and i wouldn't be surprised if a taller twin was built. not likely thought, but entirely possible.

The Westin Hotel "new" tower (40 years old?) sure looks tiny in front of EAP!

^^ that is my favorite angle and photo of EAP to date. it looks ultra modern here. there is no hint of past trends, est(1980's), in this photo. it looks 2011 all the way to the bone. jolly good! lol

This is one of the most beautiful towers in Canada.

IMO it's twice as nice as the bow.
