Unfortunately I think you maybe right. The city looks like it just got hoodwinked again- by locals no less.

No one is beating down the door for that property. The city should just sell it but even then I dont see much demand for it. An idustrial commerce park maybe with some film soundstages or production facilities always made the most sense. No one is going to fund the pie in the sky renderings they released. Just reality!

Although I do think the regional sports park has a good shot at being feasible too.

As someone that lives nearby this is so much better than that god awful self storage place they were trying forever. I do wish they were residences, to have more locals in the neighborhood but better than nothing.

I am disappointed they didn't save the old warehouse facade. That was a shame.

Weird to me they're choosing to have a shared use road as part of the greenway. Kind of an oxymoron, and the whole appeal of the greenway has always been that it's a highly protected area for pedestrians and cyclists. But I suppose if getting an extension requires this, then I'm for it.

Its a " shared use" (note use not road) path because it has to be along lafitte. Once a week Masonry Products receives delivery by rail of their bricks in Mid city.

I was talking about the portion that says "shared use roadway," between N Alexander and N Bernadotte. Their words, not mine. But that's great if it's really just an access road for a business.

I guess what I meant was they cant use the railroad for that stretch because its still active for Masonry Products (even though its only used once a week). if that ever changes and the company moves that railroad will most assuredly be discontinued and deactivated.

Sustaining equitable communities through design.
This week, we broke ground on Desire Square, a 48,346 SF, 1-story, multi-tenant new construction community center managed by the Desire Community Housing Corporation. DCHC advocates for equity of home ownership and development of low-to-moderate income affordable housing in the Desire neighborhood. The project will bring much needed community, education, and healthcare services that have been unavailable in the Desire/Florida community since Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Grocery Corner of Napoleon and Freret

Not sure how to post a picture, but got an NPP notice for a conditional use to allow a 13,500sqft grocery store on the corner of Freret and Napoleon in the old school building, which would be torn down. Also need a conditional use to allow sale of alcohol in grocery store under 20k sqft.

13,500sqft seems small to be an aldi, there is already a Rouses on Freret. Would seem that 13,500 is the average size of trader joes... let the speculation begin

I thought the old school on the corner was planned for a hotel renovation? Would not be surprised if it fell through.

The Bio District just released its master plan. Seems like it’s flown under the radar with all the other developments going on. But this is a huge deal and could be a game changer economically for the city and state. *Warning* it’s rather long and very detailed https://www.biodistrictnola.com/_fil...a80aa9001c.pdf

The NPP notice says the hotel is not moving forward at this time.

13,500 is about the size of the average trader joes.

Just checked the permit for Trader Joes on Tulane and thats actively moving forward and should be issued any day. So this is either something
else or another Trader Joes.
