The Marriott crane got raised this morning. Looks good with the crane sticking up over the Southern portion of Downtown

Looks to me like they are raising forms and working on the 13th floor right now.

Good update pics. The narrow foot print is making Marriott look taller than it actually is.

...and still no full rendering published

I'm no good at counting floors, but finished it's supposed to be 19. I think we're pretty near the top, maybe one or two more?

Is this thing visible from a distance at all? I was hoping a 19 story building would make a dent in the skyline but it's been a while since I've been on any of the vantage points on the 51 or 17.

Ive been trying to see it on the mill ave bridge every night when I come home, cant really make it out from there. or event the 10 it sort of get blocked by Chase Field.

Even Portland on the park doesn't really make the impact I was hoping for

Yeah, Luher's is hidden pretty well, but the street presence is very nice when you are within a block or so. Oh well, it brings density and hopefully can spur additional demand.

You would think they would have one up by now considering the building looks to be almost topped out. Makes you wonder why they haven't posted one yet...

It's really sad when you consider what could have been.

Has anyone ever addressed whether it was possible to put this building above the existing parking garage?

What could have been?

There's no way a garage from the 1940s would have supported the weight of a hotel on top without massive, expensive reconstruction. Nobody would bother with that sort of thing, especially when the garage isn't ADA compliant and otherwise out of current code.

The layout of the Luhrs Central Building was incompatible for a façade-preservation that allowed hotel uses.

The height limit for the parcel is about 267' because of the airport, and a 19 story building starts quickly approaching that once you add the penthouse.

What height was Sarver's W hotel approved for? Of course that was further east than the parking garage I referred to.

The W was about 400' or so, but that wouldn't have been able to be built today cause I'm pretty sure the airport height zone map came after that approval.

(remember to subtract about 1083' from the above heights)

Impressive height and density in these photos. Like a real city, even! Thanks for taking, muertecaza.

Unfortunately, it barely even puts a bump in the skyline. It comes up short of even Summit Copper Square's height and can barely be seen when driving on I-10 West of Downtown. I wish it could have gone up a couple more floors. But it does add to the canyon-like feel when driving up Central.

Overall, it is a good project for the area. Glad to see it topped out.

Great pics! It may not make much of an impact on the skyline from afar, but I like that it's behind the historic Luhrs buildings and somehow makes them stand out more.
