Two cranes went up in Kierland for a project that I thought was put on hold. Doesn’t like its going to 20 stories, but hey, it’ll add some density that corner.

Those are for the final Optima tower. They already have the underground foundation poured & should be going above grade pretty soon.

I see - so they aren’t for the project that’s being debated for that corner - or is that at a different location?

Was surprised to see 3 cranes when I wen to the Quarters yesterday...

Just an update article on SkySong:

https://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/...track-for.html

Not a lot new, although it does say that the 6th office building is still in the works:

Plans are underway for the sixth office building on the property, which will be on the northern portion of the site near SkySong 5.
Posting just to note that I rode by last week and was impressed by how well the development is coming together.

I agree! Also originally there was suppose to be two buildings per the next phase on the hard corner of Scottsdale and McDowell but it looks like it will now just be one elongated building flanking both streets. If the economy stays hot, they could potentially build out the entire project within another year or two. All they would have left to build is that office building/ 2 more garages and that's it!

Hoping for some height on that corner of McDowell and Scottsdale. 10 Stories would be ideal

Keep hoping because it's a staggered 5/6 story building proposed.

Not sure if we were tracking this project or not - but here's an update.

Guess not? Or the Nimby's got wind of it and started making noise...

Anyhow - I think its inevitable that old town goes vertical. Scottsdale is landlocked and doesn't really have much choice at this point. Maybe once downtown Tempe reaches saturation there will be more of a push for this area.

There has been an unusual amount of drama surrounding this project, including the planning commissioner recently resigning. Personally, I can't wait to see that adobe eyesore bite the dust.
