I drove past Spice today for the first time in a couple of weeks and they are still putting cladding up on the exterior. The place remains looking like it's about 90% finished, as it has for the last few months. I didn't get an opportunity to take a closer look as I was moving in traffic, but I don't recall seeing the damaged red siding -- I wonder if they did something about it.

I was by this today and overall it looks nice. Between this the nearby church, and Ocean Towers its a very "colourful" neighbourhood.

The only complaint is the lack of anything on the ground floor. It's just a black "dead" wall which is very unattractive and if the Cogswell is ever torn down and the downtown extends up there it'll bring the area down a lot.

I bet if that were to happen they could always redesign the bottom floor for a bit of retail.

Yeah, that would be a quickie fix... probably only take these guys 20 years or so to do it.

If they start now the timing could work out.

I have not personally seen the finished product but I stumbled across this photo by hotcommodity on flickr:

Hard to judge how it fits in with the area just from that but it looks better than I had imagined.

I think it looks good. I gives some change in colours on the otherwise dreary north-end Barrington Street.

Now if they'd only do something with the lot across from this.

If it didn't have 100% cheap materials it wouldn't be too bad.

I don't like the design of the building, but I do like the colours.

Well, it's really more a pic of that church steeple. Spice really isn't the focus.

The place still looks unfinished, with bare plywood exposed at ground level, bare dirt with trash all around, etc. What a disaster of a development.

That's because it still is unfinished. They still have all the landscaping to do. They are just taking it at their normal pace. lol

You're starting to remind me of some old guy who sits in his living room with a pair of binoculars

I feel like prof seeing this going up to a student and saying:

"Given the bell curve of your fellow Halifax students, I would under normal circumstances give you a B-. But because all the other students turned in thier assignments LAST SCHOOL YEAR during the actual CLASS, you get a big fat F!"

Hahahahahahahahah! I can't help it. I wake up to this amazing view of a slowly changing city every morning. And I'm a planner, and love this city. I can't help but take notice of every little minute change in the view.
